WWE RAW Coverage: Where’s Punk?

Chicago wanted their Second City Saint. Even though they didn’t get him, they made sure to let the world know how they felt about it throughout the show.

Paul Heyman made matters worse early on when he proved once again that when given an opportunity, he can steal away a crowd. His nearly 15-minute monologue that opened up RAW that was chock full of energy and suspense. With the announce table broken less than 20 minutes in thanks to his associate Brock Lesnat, this week’s RAW, for a bit, had that feeling that anything could happen.

Although it ended up being just a solid episode of RAW, as Punk never arrived, the Tag Team title win by the Usos , the announcement of Paul Bearer’s induction into the WWE Hall of Fame and a few quality matches kept the tension high.

Matches:

WWE Tag Team Champions Road Dogg and Billy Gunn vs. Jimmy and Jey Uso: The champs were in control until Jimmy got in with the hot tag and went to work. But after a Samoan Drop, a ton of kicks and a nice Aerial attack, Jimmy couldn’t put Gunn away. After Mr. Ass landed the Titl-a-Whirl Sideslam, the match appeared to evened up again, but a quick tag from Jey and a Superkick, Jimmy hit the top rope splash to claim the Tag Team titles.

Intercontinental Champion Big E. Langston vs. Antonio Cesaro w/Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter: For the second week in a row, Cesaro was in complete control until Swagger interfered and cost him the match. After the match, Langston hit Cesaro with the Big Ending.

WWE United States Champion Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins vs. Bray Wyatt, Erick Rowan and Luke Harper: Rollins had an amazing match, taking out all there members of the Wyatt Family with high-flying moves. Ambrose was also solid, nailing Rowan with a Dragonscrew Leg Whip and a Figure Four. Soon enough Harper hit Ambrose with the Stomp and Wyatt followed it up with a standing Urinage Suplex. Although Ambrose fought hard, her needed help but Rollins soon left the match and wouldn’t tag in. This forced Reigns to clean house. Ambrose and Reigns then fought together as Ambrose worked on Wyatt and Reigns Speared Rowan through the announce table. Harper proved to be the X Factor. After he took out Reigns on the outside, Wyatt was able to grab Ambrose and deliver the Sister Abigail for the win.

Emma and Santino Marella vs. Fandango and Summer Rae: Much like last week, Fandango and Marella traded blows, but it was Emma who got the submission win on Summer Rae with the Emma Lock.

Sheamus vs. Christian: A back and forth match that revolved mainly around Christian’s ability to counter Sheamus’ signature offense. The “This is Awful,” “Boring” and “End This Match” chants during the match was more indicative of the match’s slow pace. Christian nearly won with a Frog Splash, but Sheamus fought back and almost gained a victory with the White Noise. After a few more CM Punk chants, Sheamus won with the Brogue Kick.

Nikki and Brie Bella vs. Aksana and Alicia Fox: A standard, no drama divas match that saw the Bellas get the win after a Nikki Rack Buster.

Alberto Del Rio vs. Dolph Ziggler w/Aaron Paul: After an assist from Paul, Ziggler countered the Arm Bar into the Zig-Zag for the win.

Intercontinental Champion Big E. Langston vs. Jack Swagger w/Antonio Cesaro and Zeb Colter: The match never got started as Cesaro hit Langston with the Neutralizer to get the match thrown out.

Daniel Bryan vs. Batista: “The Animal” had the early advantage, but Bryan worked on Batista’s leg and evened things out. Just when Bryan went on his run of Signature offense, Triple H, Kane and Stephanie Mcmahon hit the ring, which allowed Batista to rebound on the outside. With WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton watching at ringside, Batista made sure to throw Bryan into him. Once back in the ring, Bryan landed a Massive Kick, but Orton interfered to get the match thrown out. After the bell, Batista hit Bryan with a Spear and a Batista Bomb, but Bryan was able to still get in a few licks on Triple H. With Bryan down and Triple H pissed , the WWE COO nailed Bryan with the Pedigree.
