TNA Impact Wrestling Coverage: NYC-Approved

The return of the six-sided ring and the wild New York City crowd fueled another wild episode of Impact Wrestling.

We’ve said it before, but Impact needs to be on the road more often. The fans in Orlando lack the energy of the bigger cities and it shows. This week’s Impact was a solid one, but was made better by the excitement of the crowd.

Between the solid card, and the wild finish with the return of D-Von Dudley, this week’s Impact proves that the company still, after all of these years of missed opportunities, still has potential to grow and even succeed.

Matches:

Bully Ray and Tommy Dreamer vs. Rhino and Ethan Carter III w/Rockstar Spud: This match had a lot of layers between Ray’s heavy strikes and Rhino’s barrage on the outside, as well as effective double-teams from Dreamer and Ray. After it all, the finish threw all the wrestling out the window, as Spud caused a distraction that allowed Carter to get the Rollup win on Dreamer.

X Division Over the Top Guantlet Match: Austin Aries vs. Eddie Edwards vs. Manik vs. Davey Richards vs. Zema Ion vs. Crazy Steve vs. Senada vs. Tigre Uno: An insane battle royal full of spots. Senada and Aries were the last ones left and after Aries kicked out of the Tiger Suplex, he hit two Discus Elbows before finishing off the former X-Division Champion with the Brianbuster.

Eric Young and Bobby Roode vs. MVP and Kenny King: Young and Roode had this match all sewn up until MVP hit Roode with a crutch to earn the team of EY and Roode the win via DQ.

No DQ: Brittany vs. Madison Rayne: These two kicked the crap out of each other. While Brittany had her moments, Rayne got the win with the ultra effective Package DDT.

TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Lashley vs, Jeff Hardy: A great match that saw Hardy go to the well with the Swanton Bomb too many times and it cost him the match. After Hardy misses a Swanton on the outside and crashed on the steel steps, Lashley finished off Hardy with the Spear.
