Review Fix: How did you get involved in music?

Jennifer Paige: I started singing in local talent shows with my brother when I was 8 years old. Sang throughout my school years and went to a performance arts high school in Georgia, where I studied Music, Drama & Dance. After high school, I went on the road with a Top 40 band, and moved to L.A. shortly thereafter.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Paige: When I write songs I typically hear melodies first, or perhaps a melody, along with a line to the chorus. I like to co-write with producers so I can hear the song coming to life in the moment. I am very inspired by hearing a song come to life!

Review Fix: What do you think makes your sound special?

Paige: I think that’s for the listener to decide but it’s my goal to tell the truth in lyrics and have melodies that make people feel something, even if they don’t fully comprehend the lyric.

Review Fix: How would you describe your style?

Paige: This new album is a bit of a departure from my previous work, and has a darker, more alternative pop sound to it

Review Fix: What are your goals for the new single, Devil’s In The Details?

Paige: I want to take it as far as it wants to go! I’m a dreamer & I believe anything is possible when your heart is in it – my heart is in it.

Review Fix: Is there a story behind it?

Paige: It’s a song about the daily grind of a relationship that you have every desire to see succeed. But, none the less, we struggle to connect sometimes and have to find our way back to one another.

Review Fix: Why did you name the new album “Starflower”?

Paige: It’s for my daughter, Stella Rose, who is 2 years old. Stella means Star, and she was lovingly called “Starflower” by a family member. I loved it and wrote a song for her, which became the title track.

Review Fix: How was the collaborative process with Jeremy Bose?

Paige: He’s incredibly inspiring as a producer. He’s got strong ideas and opinions and he knew how to casually pull out the best in me. I enjoyed the process a lot!

Review Fix: What was it like to work with Nick Carter?

Paige: He’s incredibly humble considering his level of worldwide success and fame, and he has serious vocal chops. I loved our duet, “Beautiful Lie”, back in the day.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Paige: Endorsement deals, worldwide tours and clothing lines…I told you I like to dream.
