WWE RAW Coverage: Gettin’ in the Fastlane

For the go-home show to Fastlane, WWE pulled out a chunk of the stops, but there were some departments which were lacking, mainly in the tag division and the lower mid-card. For example: Goldberg and Kevin Owens had a heated exchange to kick things off, but it was followed with a lackluster Oscars parody from the New Day. The build for Seth Rollins and Triple H has the WWE Universe guessing on the severity of Rollin’s injury, and the intensity has come to a rolling boil for Samoa Joe and Sami Zayn. The Cruiserweights are doing their thing, but the real money comes in the Women’s division and Braun Strowman/Roman Reigns program, which closed the evening with a satisfyingly chaotic contract signing.

Matches:

The New Day (Xavier Woods and Big E) w/Kofi Kingston: After a painful Oscars spoof, the New Day pulled off the win after Woods caught Mahal with a rollup after an outside argument between Kofi Kingston and Lana distracted Rusev.

Akira Tozawa vs. Noam Dar w/Alicia Fox: A quick back and forth where after ducking a kick, Tozawa caught Dar with his signature Snap German Suplex for the victory. After the match, Brian Kendrick took out Tozawa with another sneak attack.

Nia Jax and Charlotte w/Dana Brooke vs. Sasha Banks and Bayley: One of the better matches of the evening that was all about Jax’s dominance. Charlotte played up her arrogance, but once Jax got in the mix, it was all over. After running roughshod over Banks and Bayley, Jax clobbered Bayley with a standing Avalanche and hit the huggable one with a Leg Drop for her troubles.

Big Cass w/Enzo Amore vs. Luke Gallows w/Karl Anderson: Amore and Anderson got into it on the outside, and Gallows attempted to capitalize on the distraction. This backfired however, as Gallows zigged when he should have zagged after meeting Cass’s Big Boot for the three count.

Sheamus vs. Titus O’Neil: Titus looked strong in the opening moments, but one Brogue Kick later and it was lights out for the Titus Brand.

The Shining Stars: Primo and Epico vs. The Big Show: Big Show again looked awesome as he showed the Stars what it’s like to step into the ring with a giant. The squash consisted of a WMD to Epico followed by a Chokeslam to Primo.

Samoa Joe vs. Cesaro: The only downside of this match was that it wasn’t on a Pay-Per-View. Cesaro tweaked his knee early on, and the Samoan Tony Soprano took advantage of it the entire time. Cesaro looked tough, but the early mistake did him in the end as a missed Springboard Swiss Uppercut would send him into a Spinning Ura-Nage to seal the deal for Joe. After the match, Sami Zayn and Joe duked it out.
