WWE RAW Coverage: Hi John, Who Cares

With Summerslam a snore fest, this week’s RAW, away from the return of John Cena, was a slow, plodding mess. It’s rare that a mid-card heel the like of The Miz is right. RAW doesn’t need new faces, it years for real storyline and makes that mean something.

Matches:

Brooklyn Street Fight: Big Cass vs. Enzo Amore: Cass was apparently injured and Enzo got the win in a match that did nothing to further this lukewarm feud.

Emma vs. Nia Jax: Emma talked trash backstage, but Jax got the squash win with the Samoan Drop.

Elias Sampson vs. R-Truth: Sampson got the quick win with his Neckbreaker/Credenza variation.

Mustafa Ali, Cedric Alexander, Rich Swann and Gran Metalik vs. Ariyah Daivari, Drew Gulak, Tony Nese and Noam Dar: Lots of impact, but little storytelling. Alexander got the win on Nese with the Lumbar Check.

WWE RAW Tag Team Champions Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose vs. Matt and Jeff Hardy: This match took entirely too long and wasn’t for the title. Ambrose and Rollins got the win on Jeff after Rollins hit the Knee and Ambrose finished him off with the Dirty Deeds.

Jason Jordan vs. Finn Balor: This was the match of the night thus far as Jordan pushed Balor to the limit and proved himself. Balor eventually got the win with the Coup de Grace.

Samoa Joe and Intercontinental Champion The Miz w/Maryse, Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel vs. John Cena and Roman Reigns: Lots of offense from both sides, but things got hairy when Reigns accidentally hit Cena with a Superman Punch. Miz had an opportunity to hit the Skull Crushing Finale, but Cena, of course, hit the Attitude Adjustment for the win.
