Review Fix Exclusive: Broken Testimony’s Bryce Chism Talks ‘Holding On To Nothing And More’

Review Fix chats with Bryce Chism, co-founder and drummer of a new alternative / hard rock band from Easley, SC – BROKEN TESTIMONY – who recently signed by Thermal Entertainment LLC and released their debut album HOLDING ON TO NOTHING on June 22. Bryce, a recent high school graduate is 18 years old and is ready for his musical journey to begin.

Review Fix: How did you get involved in music?

Bryce Chism: Ever since I could remember I have loved music. When I was in about the end of 8th grade, I asked for a drum set because before that, I tried to play guitar for like eight years and I just couldn’t get into the guitar. I heard The Rev (Avenged Sevenfold) for the first time around that time and I just knew that’s what I wanted.  What makes us special is the fact we don’t want to focus on sticking to a certain sound, but to branch out and explore every road we can.

Review Fix: What makes your brand special?

Chism: What makes us special is the fact we don’t want to focus on sticking to a certain sound, but to branch out and explore every road we can.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Chism: It’s kind of like a group effort really.  Judge writes most lyrics, but we all come to each other with ideas, lyrics, etc. We all pitch in and write these songs together.  There’s a piece of each other’s thoughts in the songs.

Review Fix: What makes you different?

Chism: We never want to be satisfied with our songs.  I know a lot of people say that, but what makes us different is we never want to stay the same.  We want to explore every way to be different. We want to keep our fans and each other on our feet.

Review Fix: What’s your standout song on the album? How was it written?

Chism: My favorite is Vitality hands down.  That song was the first we all wrote together.  We wrote that song around the time Justin joined and we went straight to work.  We finally finished the song in about six months because we wanted to try to perfect that song to the best of our abilities.  You can just feel a certain passion in that song.

Review Fix: What are your goals for 2018?

Chism: We want to hit the road as soon as possible.  That and continuously write and better ourselves as musicians and as a band.

Review Fix: What makes your latest album special?

Chism: Listen to it in order.  I think the special part of this record is the journey it takes you on.

Review Fix: How do you want your music to affect people?

Chism: I want people to hear these songs and feel a connection.  I want people to hear one of the songs and let it take them on a journey of their own.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Chism: Honestly just writing.  We want to take so many directions and so many avenues and we can’t wait to share with you guys!

Review Fix: Anything else you’d like to add?

Chism: I just want to thank Review Fix Magazine for this opportunity and we hope you guys really enjoy this record as much as we do. love you guys.
