Review Fix Exclusive: Matthew Diana Talks “Disasterpiece” EP And More

Review Fix chats with singer/songwriter Matthew Diana, who discusses the influences and goals for his new “Disasterpiece” EP.

About Matthew Diana:

Matthew Dylan Diana is a vocalist, musician, songwriter, and mostly recognized as the lead singer of Message to the Masses. He is the only remaining original member of Message to the Masses who was previously signed to Artery Recordings and has toured and put out multiple singles. However, Matt’s passion for music has grown more than ever and he has decided to continue the band, but with a focus on his career as a solo artist. He has spent a good portion of his free time this year preparing and fine tuning his first release, Disasterpiece.

Review Fix: How did you get involved in music?

Matthew Diana: My mother works for a radio station and my dad use to jam in a band.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Diana: I dig deep to understand my feelings and thoughts. I take life experiences and what I’ve been through to create inspiration. I’m always trying to turn anything and everything into positivity. I’ll hear melodies and notes in my head while listening to tracks I’m working on. Once I have a pretty good idea I will record it at my home studio and refine them until I’m happy before going to a professional studio.

Review Fix: What inspires you?

Diana: Positivity, experiencing new things, music, and much more.

Review Fix: What makes this EP special?

Diana: It’s the first time I was able to record my own album with whatever I wanted to do on it. Every song is different and diverse from the next. They all have deep meanings and are purely made out of all my emotions. I never poured my heart into anything as much as this EP.

Review Fix: What’s the standout track?

Diana: Have Hope I’d say just because it inspires positivity and the message behind it hits hard with where I am at with my life right now. It also has my favorite chorus and all around just makes me feel good when I listen to it.

Review Fix: What’s on your musical bucket list?

Diana: To get to a point where music is one of the only things I’m doing and to reach further success in it. Touring constantly and writing constantly while being able to keep me financially stable.

Review Fix: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard you?

Diana: I would say that it’s very experimental and is multiple genres. It’s pretty much a resume of my musical abilities that I’m showing to the world. It’s a very open minded sound and there are no boundaries. The direction of it literally heads in multiple different ways.

Review Fix: How are your live shows different from your studio work?

Diana: There is a lot more intensity and energy in the live shows.

Review Fix: What are your goals for the rest of 2018?

Diana: Continuously write more material to have it ready for recording in 2019.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Diana: Recording an LP and more singles.

Review Fix: Anything else you’d like to add?

Diana: A message to everyone, always stay positive and true to yourself. Never let anyone push you off your center and stay strong. Life is like a river so don’t push against it, float with it. Everything happens for a reason so everything will work out sooner or later. Now go check out my EP, Disasterpiece”!
