About Georgia Shreve:

GEORGIA SHREVE (Book, Music, Lyrics) is a noted composer, fiction writer, playwright and poet. She holds degrees from Stanford, Brown, Columbia, and PENN. Her poetry and fiction have been published in magazines such as the New Yorker, New Republic, and New Criterion, and her short story, The Countess of M-, won the Stanford Magazine Fiction award. She is in the process of putting the final touches on her novel, Spirit Lake. Her plays and musicals have received numerous readings and workshops across New York. In 2012 The New York Times praised the musical composition of Georgia Shreve, writing “The program also included Georgia Shreve’s expansive, psychologically pointed setting of part of T. S. Eliot’s ‘Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock’ in an artfully blended performance…”  Her classical music will be performed at Carnegie Hall for the 8th time on April 22nd 2019. Much of her work is multimedia featuring David Hockney, Salvador dali and other artists. The April concert will feature multimedia performances of the Little Prince, Don Quixote in addition to Protopia II.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Georgia Shreve: I work best in peaceful isolation alone with my laptop and my piano.  Some of it is a process or trial and error and endless revision.

Review Fix: What makes you a special composer and book writer?

Shreve: I wrote my first story at 8, my first play at 9,  my first 50 poems at 10 and my first song around 12.  So I felt the passion from the beginning. Then I trained in creative writing as well as classical singing, piano, and composition.

Review Fix: What’s special about the cast?

Shreve: For this rock opera we have leaned toward the classical side in both musicians and singers and they reflect impeccable and extensive training in their art–at Juilliard, the Metropolitan Opera, Philadelphia Orchestra, New York Philharmonic etc.

Review Fix: What did you learn about yourself through this process?

Shreve: I added to my learning about what makes words and music beautiful, moving, entertaining, and inspiring.

Review Fix: What are your ultimate goals for this production or your Ideation Productions for the future?

Shreve: I feel sure that this production will be beautiful and moving, but also memorable and fun.

Review Fix: What have you learned through this journey?

Shreve: That good chemistry in the cast helps make a production special.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Shreve: My eighth concert at Carnegie Hall on April 22nd featuring 7 world premieres. I will be adapting my version of Don Quite to images by Salvador Dali. The Little Prince with a film of the original pictures, Protopia II and four original songs. Productions of the 5 other musicals I have created.
