NXT UK Coverage: Takeover Primer

The road to the first NXT UK: TakeOver special is almost over. This Saturday is going to be a momentous occasion in British wrestling. Tonight we find out who will face Moustache Mountain for the NXT UK Tag Team Championships in Blackpool. Will it be the fiery babyface team of Mark Andrews and “Flash” Morgan Webster? Or the heels on a hot streak, Zack Gibson and James Drake? One thing is for sure though; you won’t want to miss TakeOver: Blackpool.

Matches:

Jamie Ahmed and Dan Moloney vs. Kenny Williams and Amir Jordan:

The babyfaces picked up the win with a Sunset Facebuster/ Swanton Bomb combo, in a fun and fast paced match.

Isla Dawn vs. Xia Brookside:

The bout began with some crisp chain wrestling. This was a chess match with both women countering hold after hold. Eventually, Dawn managed to roll Brookside up for three.

Damien Weir vs. Jordan Devlin:

Weir almost rolled Devlin up but the Irish Ace quickly recovered and planted his opponent with Ireland’s Call. Post-match, Travis Banks hit the ring, but Devlin backed down.

NXT UK Tag Team Tournament Semi-Final Match: “Flash” Morgan Webster and Mark Andrews vs. James Drake and Zack Gibson:

Gibson and Drake played dirty immediately. They tried to end things quickly, but Andrews managed to kick out at two. The heels were firmly in control until Webster got the hot tag and fired up. The Modfather planted Drake with a Double Underhook Facebuster for two and a half. The faces finally had the momentum in their favor. Both teams left everything in the ring, but an Assisted Ticked to Ride sent Gibson and Drake to Blackpool in the end.
