WWE RAW Coverage: Styles is Back

Stomping Grounds ultimately meant nothing aside from a new United States Champion in Ricochet. This week’s RAW as well, meant little, away from the beginning of what can be an amazing feud between The One and Only and AJ Styles, as well as a possible program between Samoa Joe and Kofi Kingston.

Matches:

Elimination Match: The New Day: Big E. Langston and Xavier Woods and Jimmy and Jey Uso vs. WWE RAW Tag Team Champions The Revival: Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder and WWE Smackdown Tag Team Champions: Daniel Bryan and Erick Rowan: After Woods eliminated Bryan, Woods was eliminated with a Shatter Machine, while the Usos eliminated Dash and Wilder with a Splash after the Revival pinned Jimmy by accident.

R-Truth vs. Drake Maverick: Truth got the quick win and then bolted before anyone could take the title from him.

Roman Reigns vs. Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre: The Undertaker returned, Chokeslammed Shane and allowed Reigns to hit the Spear on McIntyre for the win.

Tug of War: Braun Strowman vs. Bobby Lashley: Lashley was in control and although Strowman won, Lashley beat on him afterward.

The Viking Raiders: Erik and Ivar vs. Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson: Just like last week, the Good Brothers were in control but couldn’t get the win. Eventually Erik and Ivar won with the Assisted Front Powerslam.

Mojo Rawley vs. Heath Slater: R-Truth hit the ring and Slater beat him for the 24/7 title, before Truth won it back with the Little Jimmy. Cedric Alexander beat Truth with the Lumbar Check and Ethan Carter III won with the One Percenter. But thanks to Carmella, R-Truth won it back with a Rollup.

WWE Champion Kofi Kingston vs. Sami Zayn w/Kevin Owens: Zayn hit Kingston with everything and Owns beat on Kingston on the outside. But they couldn’t put the champion away. Zayn’s Blue Thunder Bomb was eventually countered by the Champ who won with a Pinning Combination. After the match, Owens demanded a shot at the title.

WWE Champion Kofi Kingston vs. Kevin Owens w/Sami Zayn: The action spilled to the outside and Kingston won via count-out. After the match, Samoa Joe destroyed him the the Urinage and the Kokina Clutch on the ramp.

Naomi vs. Alexa Bliss w/Nikki Cross: Bliss got the quick win, thanks to Naomi focusing more on Cross, but afterward Nattie Neidhart hit the ring to even the odds.

Naomi and Nattie Neidhart vs. Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross: This impromptu match was just fodder. Cross hit the Roll the Dice and Bliss picked up the scraps.

Ricochet vs. AJ Styles: This was the best match on RAW in months. After the first few minutes of back and forth until Anderson and Gallows hit the ring. Styles however forced the Good Brothers to leave and the match was restarted. Once the action restarted, the stalemate continued with neither competitor taking control until Styles hit the Pele Kick. Ricochet fought back with a Dive to the outside, but couldn’t put Styles down for long. Ricochet nearly beat Styles with the Standing Shooting Star, but Styles fought back with his signature Osaka Street Cutter Reverse DDT. Styles then hit some signature strikes, but Ricochet wasn’t finished yet either. Ricochet fought back with a Suplex/Cutter variation and a Lionsault, but couldn’t hit the 630. Before you knew it, Styles won with the Phenomenal Forearm.
