Review Fix Exclusive: George Ducas Talks Goals for 2020 and More

Review Fix chats with singer/songwriter George Ducas, who lets us know about his origin in music, goals for the future and more.

Review Fix: How did you get involved in music?

George Ducas: Picked up a guitar at age 12, having grown up in Texas inspired by everyone from Willie and Waylon and other Texas songwriters and artists, such as Guy Clark and Jerry Jeff Walker, to radio rock and roll at the time such as singer songwriters Tom Petty and Bryan Adams.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Ducas: I record ideas – whether guitar melodies or lyric ideas – every chance I get. Otherwise I’ll forget them.

Review Fix: What inspires you?

Ducas: Greatness. Not much falls into that category.

Review Fix: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard you?

Ducas: Modern day-roots country hybrid style to completely-off-the-rails story-telling songs that hopefully leave a mark on the listener long after they’re heard.

Review Fix: How are your live shows different from your studio work?

Ducas: You’d have to come to a show and find out, but I mix in my own hits and recordings along with the hits I’ve written for other recording artists. It’s an honor to have my work become an instrumental part of other people’s careers.

Review Fix: What inspired your latest single?

Ducas: No radio game being played here. We’ve got four “focus tracks” that we highlight towards playlisting for the streaming world: “Eastwood”, “Unlove You”, “I’m All In”, “Baby Mama” and “Don’t Leave Her Lonely”.  â€œEastwood” was the lead off track, and its video spent 3 weeks at #1 on CMT’s fan voted “12 Pack Countdown”, so that was a great way to kick off this album.

Review Fix: What are your goals for the rest of 2019?

Ducas: After a few tour dates in December, it’ll be Christmas shopping and downtime for me!

Review Fix: What’s next?

Ducas: Looking forward to a full year of touring to support this new album in 2020.
