Review Fix Exclusive: John Daniels Talks ‘Fox & Hare’

Review Fix chats with John Daniels about his band’s origin, goals and creative process behind their new single, “Fox And Hare.”

Review Fix: How did you get involved in music?

John Daniels:I got involved with music originally, as many people do, singing in church. When I was around 17 is when I started writing songs.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Daniels:My creative process is usually the same. If I sit with a song long enough something always comes together. It is a form of meditation and the songs that I write usually come from a place of prayer and meditation. I write based upon life experiences and raw emotion from those experiences

Review Fix: What inspires you?

Daniels:Everything can inspire me honestly. The subtleties of human existence to the insanity that can be our existence. There is inspiration in everything if you look or listen long enough.

Review Fix: What does music mean to you?

Daniels:Music is life to me. Without it, life would just not be the same. Music can free you from just about anything and I truly believe that it is a gift from the source.

Review Fix: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard you?

Daniels:Our sound is unique and it is a marriage of classic rock, soul and folk writing mixed together. I was raised on music generally from the 60s to the late 70’s and try to have that shine through in the sound.

Review Fix: How are your live shows different from your studio work?

Daniels: Live shows are amazing because of the energy that presents itself. To be able to see reactions and obtain feedback from an audience is just something else altogether compared to studio work.

Review Fix: What inspired your latest single?

Daniels:“Fox and Hare” were inspired by living a life of partying and coming out on the other side alive and able to continue with recovery from drugs and alcohol.

Review Fix: What are your goals for the rest of 2020?

Daniels:My goals for 2020 are to continue to spread the music to as many people as possible. I feel that music is my purpose in this lifetime. I really just want to bring as much love and truth to as many people as we can in 2020 with our music.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Daniels:I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what’s next. It is gonna be beautiful though.

Throughout my time on this earth I have battled cancer twice. Once in 1987 and once in 1996. I have seen drug addiction strangle out many of the people I have loved and have helped pull many from the ashes. I know that the struggles that I have faced don’t compare to so many other people’s struggles, so I go through each day knowing that I am blessed. I know that so many people struggle every day and just want to say it will get better. Just keep one foot in front of the other, sooner or later the purpose is always revealed. Keep spreading the music and the love. Peace be with you and yours.
