Review Fix Exclusive: SUBXERO’s Eric Schramm Talks ‘Monarch’ And More

Review Fix chats with SUBXERO’s Bassist Eric Schramm, who discusses the band’s origin, goals single, Monarch.

Review Fix: How did the project start?

Eric Schramm: SUBXERO originally formed by Jason Xero with musicians in the Pittsburgh Pa area in 2016. He relocated back to Florida and put together a band of regional heavy hitters to form the current lineup. Subxero has released a Full length in 2017 entitled reborn. In 2018 Subxero released The Blood In, Blood Out EP. In November of 2019 Subxero released The Lighwork EP. Subxero is Jason Xero (Vocals)  Eric Schramm (Bass)  Josh Lough (Drums/Vocals)  Daniel Knight (Guitar) Issam Pereira (Guitar).

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Schramm: It usually starts out with someone presenting an idea or a riff, either during rehearsal or recording it and sending it to everyone. Occasionally a whole song is presented and then we all add our own embellishments to it.

Review Fix: What’s your standout song?

Schramm: Monarch.

Review Fix: How was it written?

Schramm: Musically, it was a song that Daniel had been messing with for about a year. He brought the riffs to Jason, who then worked with it, recorded the basic frame work, then sent it to the rest of the band so we could work with it. We pulled our ideas together and recorded the final product.

Review Fix: What are your goals for 2020?

Schramm: We’re continuing to write for the next release. We are hopeful that we’ll be able to play live soon. That has left a hole in everyone’s lives that needs to be filled.

Review Fix: How do you want your music to affect people?

Schramm: We want people to relate to our music, that it gives them some sort of hope and comfort to know that they’re not alone in their struggles in life. We live by the moto Strength, Determination, Family, Unity. You need that kind of anchor in life, we hope that what we’re doing can be a part of that.

Review Fix: Tell us about the new video.

Schramm: We self produced the whole video for Demons. We wanted to keep it simple but true to the subject of the song, which is over coming addiction, depression, etc…. Jason Xero/Vocals did the editing. We’re very pleased with it and hope everyone enjoys it. Horns up!!!

Review Fix: What’s next?

Schramm: New music, play live shows, usual band stuff. We’re looking forward to continuing to work with Damon Moreno/Inner Light Agency, Spector basses, InTune Guitar Picks and Scorpion Percussion.
