Review Fix Exclusive: Non Talkers Marco Brantner Talks Future

Review Fix chats with Non Talkers Marco Brantner, who discusses the band’s origins, creative process and goals for the future.

Review Fix: How did the project start?

Marco Brantner: It started in 2014 after I was blown away by my wife’s amazing voice and decided to invite her to start an alternative pop band named “Brantner”. For some reason we felt that the name didn’t really suit us and also brought a bit of confusion. After, in 2019, when we’ve recorded our latest EP “Pendulum of time” we took the opportunity and changed the name to “Non Talkers”.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Brantner: Most of the songs we have written so far started with a melody or a riff and after we thought of lyrics.

Review Fix: What’s your standout song? How was it written?

Brantner: With this new name (Non Talkers) we don’t have a lot of songs yet, just the 3 songs from the EP and a single. The song that seems to stand out the most is “Fire burning in my veins” and was also the most challenging song we’ve ever written. It went through so many stages (re-recording, remixing with different producers, etc) and it took us years to get to the final result. We’ve always felt that the song was not exactly how it should be and it was only when we met the drummer and producer Hugo Danin that things started to fall in place. He managed to arrange the song in a way that would even exceed our expectations. This song was inspired by our love story cause me and Evita met under the same conditions, we just came out of exhausting relationships at the time and we were both feeling that we couldn’t start over again, somehow we were convinced that love would never happen again for us. But guess what, it did!! Now we are married, write and perform music together and have a lovely daughter. I guess sometimes you have to go through certain experiences to find the right path. We have tried to write this song in a flirty easy listening sort of way cause that’s how it felt for us at the time.

Review Fix: What are your goals for 2020?

Brantner: Our goal for this year is to record our first full album and hopefully release it by the beginning of next year. We are very excited about it.

Review Fix: How do you want your music to affect people?

Brantner: We would like to provide the same that our influences provide us: emotions, happiness, sadness, empathy, make us feel related to something, help us overcome certain obstacles, keeping us company, connect with new people.

Review Fix: What’s next?

Brantner: Looking forward to releasing our new album and hopefully being able to tour next year.
