The Best 6 Bingo Scenes From Movies

Some of the most famous casino and betting movies are “Ocean’s Eleven”, “The Hangover”, “Casino”, “Casino Royale”, or “21”. And they have a lot of fans, even becoming legendary.

Most of the casino movies are being set in Las Vegas, and often offer intense and thrilling entertainment.

But what about certain types of casino games present in movies? For example, Bingo. This game of chance has a history of almost 100 years, and is very easy and fun to play. We all know that enthusiastic “Bingo!” whenever the Bingo players match the selected numbers arranged in a row on their card.

While you don’t get to see a lot of Bingo in movies, as the Bingo halls may not be that cinematic, there are some which have some famous Bingo scenes.

With special mentions to TV shows like “Better Call Saul”, “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “The Simpsons”, here are six of movies with Bingo scenes, some of which are comedies:

Hotel Transylvania (2012)

This animation is showing the funniest part of Bingo. Even though the action takes place in the famous castle of Dracula, all the monsters are quite funny when playing in the Bingo hall.

Needless to say, that the Bingo balls aren’t quite what you remembered, and neither is the ending of the game. The balls are mini skulls whispering the numbers, while the lucky winner has the card eaten by the player sitting close.

In the film, Dracula operates a high-end resort for monsters of all kinds, so they have to spend their eternity somehow, don’t they? The movie is the first from its series and had a big success. Adam Sandler is Dracula’s voice, and the movie features Selena Gomez (Dracula’s daughter), Steve Buscemi, Kevin James, and Fran Drescher. It was nominated for the Best Animated Film at the 2013 Golden Globes.

Bad Grandpa (2013)

This movie shows the Bingo game portrayed in a little unconventional way. The scene is fun and spontaneous, but also a little bit naughty, as the “bad grandpa” does unimaginable things in the hall – like drinking the marker fluid and testing everyone’s patience.

“Bad Grandpa” features Johnny Knoxville, who made the Jackass series famous, and tells the story of the 86-year old Irving, who takes a trip throughout the United States to take his 8 year-old grandson to his father. It received an Oscar nomination in 2014 for Makeup and Hairstyling.

Babadook (2014)

This horror movie has a Bingo scene where the troubled widow Amelia calls a game of Bingo for the retirement home residents where she works. That would be a nice and normal part of this intense psychological thriller with a creature in the basement.

During the Bingo scene, the viewers get a chilling insight into the lives of the main characters.

Rampage (2009)

The main character of this action thriller walks into a Bingo hall and keeps on doing that for a few minutes. What the players don’t know about the intruder in armor is that he is an armed killer. And they don’t seem too impressed either, not even when he starts shouting or lays a gun on the table, being too caught in their game.

The movie isn’t that famous or with a special cast, but the four minutes long Bingo hall scene takes it to our list.

Big Momma’s House 2 (2006)

The second movie with the big momma features a Bingo scene also. The funny cop dressed as an old lady – played by Martin Lawrence – gets to be accused of “stealing the man” from a disgruntled lady, in the middle of the Bingo hall and game. And there is also a falsely proclaimed “Bingo!” from someone who doesn’t understand the rules of the game.

The undercover FBI agent is a nanny for the Fuller family in this movie where Martin Lawrence is joined in the cast by Mark Moses, Nia Long, and Zachary Levi.

Inglorious Basterds (2009)

Last, but not least, Tarantino’s masterpiece had to be on the list, even though it isn’t featuring a Bingo game scene (although there is a card game scene in a basement tavern). The two main characters, the German Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz) and the American Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) have a conversation during which Waltz inadvertently uses the “Bingo!” expression as “That’s a Bingo!”. The phrase has since become a catchphrase.

Waltz, Pitt, Michael Fassbender and Daniel Bruhl are part of an impressive cast, and the movie won an Oscar (Waltz) and received another seven nominations.
