Review Fix Exclusive: Bombscare’s Pat Murphy Talks Plans for 2021 And More

Review Fix chats with Bombscare’s Pat Murphy, who discusses the band’s goals for 2021, origin and more.

Review Fix: How did you guys get together?

Pat Murphy: Myself and my brother (Tom Murphy-guitar) never were in a band together so we figured it was time. We founded the band late ’13/early ’14.

Review Fix: What’s your creative process like?

Murphy: Inspiration comes when it comes. There isn’t a formula when it comes to the writing process.

Review Fix: What do you think makes this bad special?

Murphy: We don’t try to stick to genre boundaries. We do whatever serves the song best. Especially with the stuff we’re currently working on.

Review Fix: How would you describe your style?

Murphy: Very thrash inspired, with touches of death groove and hardcore. But at the same time, especially more now than ever, I feel it’s a beast of it’s own.

Review Fix: What are your goals for the new album?

Murphy: Well we recently had some lineup changes, so we want to really up the ante with the new stuff. I feel like style wise we’re evolving, and I can’t wait to showcase what we’re putting together.

Review Fix: What’s the standout song? Is there a story behind it?

Murphy: Off our last release, I love the title track Bastions of Blood. It’s really groovy, but then it hits you with a deathy chorus. The bridge hits you with some sick riffage and ends with a big ol’ shred off!

Review Fix: What’s next?

Murphy: We can’t tour due to covid, so write, write, write.
