Best Bingo Scenes in Films

Bingo is one of the most enjoyable casino games the world over. Its attraction comes in its simplicity and appeals to both casual and experienced players. Sometimes bingo may appear marred when compared to some of the most celebrated casino games, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. It is played globally, as well as enjoyed by millions online.

One of the leading indicators of being ingrained in popular culture is through film, and bingo is no exception. When people think of casino games on screen, they may think of Baccarat in James Bond or Blackjack in Swingers; however, bingo has been prevalent throughout the years. But what are some of the most iconic films with bingo scenes?

Big Momma’s House 2

The film follows FBI agent Malcolm Turner, played by Martin Lawrence, and his hilarious endeavors as he is forced to go incognito, disguised as estranged grandmother Hattie Mae Price.

The bingo scene starts naturally, but it is disrupted by the unforgivable false claim of ‘bingo!’ The crowd’s dismay is palpable and painful to watch. The cringy scene set in a full venue makes you appreciate the benefits of online bingo. You can play with millions of strangers across the globe without false claims creeping in – or second-hand embarrassment. There are plenty of websites out there these days, such as Paddy Power bingo, where they have games like ‘Gold Room’ and the fantastic ‘Slingo Who Wants to be a Millionaire.’ It might be a good idea for Hattie Mae Price the next time she wants to play!

Bad Grampa

This film is from the creative genius mind of ‘Jackass’ legend Johnny Knoxville. It is a hidden camera-styled comedy, where he takes the role of Irving Zisman, an 83-year old who recently found out his wife passed away. Typically, people would be distraught in this instance, but the protagonist goes on to celebrate. Not to spoil the entire film, he ends up in several hilarious real-life situations with his grandson, Billy.

One of their pranks takes shape in an innocent game of bingo. Things start to take an unexpected turn when he starts to drink the ink from the bingo marker, all the while speaking to other players as if it was nothing. The astonishment of the surrounding players made the scene one of the best in the film.

The Babadook

Yes, bingo has even found its way into the horror genre. The Babadook is an Australian psychological horror that tells the story of Amelia Vanek, a widow raising her six-year-old son Sam, and the world that pop-up book Mister Babadook opens up. It reignited horror films at the time and gained cult-classic notoriety.

The scene itself depicts Amela hosting a game of bingo in the care home where she works. The tense atmosphere sends shivers down your spine in a more unusual way than a regular game of bingo ever could. Sticking to playing online bingo may be a better call for those who don’t enjoy spooky movies!

Bingo is one of the most fun games you can play, whether it be at an online casino or in a live setting. By its very nature, it’s no surprise it has made its way into some iconic films through the years.
