NEON TREES DEBUT SINGLE “ANIMAL” HITS #1 AT ALTERNATIVE RADIO
“Animal” tops #1 on the iTunes Alternative Song Chart
• Entertainment Weekly: “…alternative pop-rock sound that radio’s been missing”
• RollingStone.com: Neon Trees named ‘Artist Of The Week’ – “Bombastic alt-rock”!
(August 30, 2010 – New York, NY) It’s a landmark week to remember for Mercury Records group Neon Trees as “Animal” lands at #1 on the Alternative chart (first single from their debut album, HABITS), with digital song sales approaching gold!. “Animal” jumps to Top 15 on Hot AC and #28 at Top 40, in the aftermath of Neon Trees’ 7-week summer tour that wrapped up August 6th at the Lollapalooza fest in Chicago.
Feeding “Animal”’s rise was a BIG add at NY radio Z-100. In the new (September 3rd) issue, Entertainment Weekly posts its “best bets for airwave domination come autumn” – and “Animal” leads the pack at the top of the list. Programmer Sharon Dastur of Z-100: “They really fill that alternative pop-rock sound that radio’s been missing. There’s been nothing of this texture since the Killers’ big hits, and I think [Neon Trees will] take over that role.”
Neon Trees – was RollingStone.com’s Artist Of The Week.. Rolling Stone had nothing but raves for their album: “HABITS is filled with Eighties pop meshed with bombastic alt-rock choruses – like the Killers playing backup for Duran Duran. ‘Your Surrender’ is a U2-style singalong, ‘1983’ is a bratty dose of keyboard-driven pop punk and Hot 100 single ‘Animal’ is an irresistibly catchy lovesick dance tune.”
“Animal” was heard this summer in promos for Camp Vegas (the “summer camp for grown-ups,” engaging in exclusive events around Sin City, including outdoor concerts, pool parties and more). Go to: http://www.visitlasvegas.com/vegas/features/summer/camp-vegas.
Boosted by their summer tour and appearances earlier this spring on NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, HABITS moves into its 22nd week on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart, jumping to #5-bullet.
