New York, NY – Charlottesville, VA, five-piece Parachute is set to release their sophomore album entitled The Way It Was May 17th on Mercury Records. Produced by John Fields (Switchfoot, the Goo Goo Dolls, P!nk, Paper Tongues), the album features anthemic hit single “Something To Believe In,” currently Top 25 on the Hot AC Chart and climbing. The song, an uplifting concoction of brassy saxophones, driving guitars and soaring, choir-backed vocals, received its debut last December on ESPN and has since gone on to become a staple of the network, while the video for the song has been viewed more than an astounding 1 million times.

Additionally, Parachute – magnetic frontman Will Anderson (guitars, piano, lead vocals), Kit French (saxophone, keyboards, vocals), Alex Hargrave (bass), Johnny Stubblefield (drums), and Nate McFarland (lead guitar, vocals) – have just announced U.S. summer support dates with the Goo Goo Dolls and Michelle Branch, kicking off on July 13th in Cincinnati, OH and wrapping August 25th in Reno, NV. Parachute is currently on the road with Plain White T’s for a run of Spring U.S. tour dates, their second leg of live shows together this year. The band is treating audiences to a preview of several new songs from their forthcoming album, including “You and Me,” “Halfway,” “What I Know,” and “White Dress.” Another track, “Kiss Me Slowly,” was written with Grammy winners Lady Antebellum.

The Way It Was is the follow-up to the band’s 2009 debut album Losing Sleep (Mercury Records), which shot to #1 on the iTunes and Amazon digital albums charts and spawned the Top 15 Hot AC hit single “She Is Love.” Parachute kicked off their breakout year in 2009 with a slow-burning acoustic performance of the song at the New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square before performing on Good Morning America, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Early Show. The video for “She Is Love” spent three months on VH1’s Top 20 Countdown. Second single “Under Control” became one of the most popular iTunes Single Of The Week features to emerge from a #1 iTunes album. Parachute’s songs have been featured on MTV’s The City and the CW’s One Tree Hill, Vampire Diaries and 90210. In the live arena, the past two years have seen the band playing headlining shows and opening for the likes of Kelly Clarkson, The Script, 3 Doors Down and Secondhand Serenade.
