Track Fix: Romantic Rebel: Bad for Me

Female-Fronted rock has another awesome band to inspire rocker chicks everywhere.

Powered by KT Paige, Romantic Rebel have a full raucous sound that can easily be compared to Lacuna Coil and Paramore. “Bad for Me,” off their upcoming self-titled album, is full of emotion. Paige asserts her dominance quickly and is supported by guitarist Alex Vincent. The guitar work is excellent here, reminiscent of the soundtrack of ‘80s Nintendo classic, “Super Contra.”

The steady and sturdy Bass and Drumwork from Danny D and Marcus Lee rounds out the sound. This is a real rock track. Produced by Ulrich Wild (Deftones, Static-x, Breaking Benjamin), the song has a full and rich sound and the convincing begins from the first second Paige opens her mouth.

The way the song starts, with Paige mouthing the chorus emphatically will automatically remind rocks of Metallica’s “The Memory Remains.” A tribute to one of metals greatest acts, Paige pulls it off well. Simply put, the Chicago-native could be confused as a possible love-child of James Hetfield and Joan Jet.

Simply put, great female-fronted rock is suppose to get men simultaneously pissed off and hot and somehow manage to inspire women to bang their heads a bit. “Bad For Me” absolutely accomplishes this endeavor. With great guitar work and Paige’s sexy but rough vocals, Romantic Rebel is a four-piece full of energy and potential.
