TNA Hardcore Justice Coverage: Who’s the #1 Contender?

If you’re a wrestling fan, it’s hard to not like what TNA has done the last few weeks. As a matter of fact, this whole summer has been one of the best ever for the company n terms of engaging TV. With Ethan Carter III developing as a heel, Lashley being the dominant champion and a plethora of solid matches in the mid-card and two amazing secondary champions in Gail Kim and Samoa Joe, TNA has been damn good lately.

Hardcore Justice was no different, as it laid the groundwork for another Lashley title match and solidified Joe and Kim as the best in their divisions. Away from the waste of a match encounter between Samuel Shaw and Mr. Anderson, Hardcore Justice was a more than watchable show.

Matches:

Stairway to Janice: Bram vs. Abyss: Another bloody brawl between the two that featured a plethora of hardcore action. After Bram retrieved Janice, Abyss was able to hit the Blackhole Slam on some tacks, but that didn’t stop Bram. After he hit a low blow, Bram nailed Abyss in the gut with the nail board for another surprising pinfall over “The Monster.”

X-Division Champion Samoa Joe vs. Low-Ki: Joe’s strength won this match for him as Ki could not get Joe up for the Ki-Crusher after multiple tries. Although Low-Ki was vigilant and hit almost every move in his arsenal, he could put Joe away. After another failed attempt at Ki’s finisher and some missteps on the top rope, Joe hit the Muscle Buster for the win.

I Quit Match: Mr. Anderson vs. Samuel Shaw: This made no sense as Anderson has no Submission Finisher, while Shaw has an awesome one. Although Shaw dominated, Anderson got the win with a Jumping Armbreaker, which transitioned into a Sitting Armbar for the boring win. The reaction of the crowd of the crowd proved this one was a stinker.

Last Woman Standing: Angelina Love w/Velvet Sky vs. Gail Kim: This was a nasty match. Love hit the chair-assisted Botox Injection on the outside that got the crowd chanting “better than Divas,” but even before that the match was a tough one. After Kim recovered, she took Sky out of the ring and hit a Top Rope Samoan Drop on a chair to retain her title.

Six Sides of Steel For Title Shot: Austin Aries vs. Eric Young vs. James Storm vs. Robert Roode vs. Gunner vs. Magnus: In a finisher-filled encounter, both Roode and Young hit Tower of Doom Powerbombs that allowed them to escape the cage and “win.”
