WWE RAW Coverage: Barely Surviving

Two weeks before Survivor Series, RAW should not put you to sleep. But with a lack of drama and boring did just that. Not even the usually wacky British crowd could make the international edition of RAW worthwhile.

Away from a series of vignettes for Luke Harper, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW was nothing special.

With less than 14 days to go before Survivor series, the WWE has some serious work ahead of themselves if they are going to make this a pay per view that stands the test of time.

Matches:

Jack Swagger w/Zeb Colter vs. Seth Rollins w/ Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble: Swagger was in control for a good portion of the match and nearly got the win followed a Big Boot and Swagger Bomb and was close to a submission win after the Patriot Lock. Although Rollins escaped to the outside, Swagger locked the move on again until Mercury and Noble allowed Rollins to thrown Swagger into the ring post. After he pushed the lifeless Swagger back into the ring, Rollins finished him off with the Curb Stomp. After the match, Rollins hit the move on Swagger again for the exclamation point, which ironically took him out of his spot on Team Cena for Survivor Series.

Paige vs. Alicia Fox: Paige was on the defensive as Fix hit a nasty Yakuza Kick and a Tilt-a-Whirl Backbreaker, but a quick Rampage got Paige the win.

United States Champion Alexander Rusev w/Lana vs. Sheamus: Rusev hit all of his high impact maneuvers at the right times to keep the surging Sheamus at bay. But after a Tilt-A-Whirl Powerslam, Sheamus was back in control. Although he couldn’t lock in the Cloverleaf, Sheamus kept Rusev at bay and the two continued to trade offense. After Sheamus nearly won with the White Noise, Rusev was able to escape the Brogue Kick, but Sheamus hit a Flying Shoulder Block and more offense from the outside. But before he could get back in the ring, Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury interfered and allowed Sheamus to get counted out, allowing Rusev to retain his title.

Los Matadores, Fernando and Diego w/ El Torito vs. The Miz and Damien Sandow w/Hornswoggle: The Miz earned the win following a Vertical Suplex counter and some help from Sandow, who held Diego’s legs down during the three-count.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Mark Henry: The match was thrown out after Henry took out Ziggler with a steel chair on the outside. Before Henry could inflict more damage, Big Show made the save and announced he’d joined Team Cena.

Divas Champion AJ Lee vs. Bree Bella w/Nikka Bella: Lee got the quick win with the Black Widow, but Nikki attacked Lee and hit her with the Rack Attack after the bell.

Adam Rose vs. Tyson Kidd: A decent match that featured Erick Rowan walking down to the ring and then through the crowd after he announced “She’s not here.” Much like last week, Rose’s Bunny cost Rose the match after Rose had to coax him from the top rope. Taking advantage of an opportunity, Kidd latched on the Hart Family Sharpshooter for the win. After the match, Rose took out Bunny with a kick to the gut.

Ryback w/Kane, Mark Henry, Seth Rollins, Alexander Rusev, Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble vs. John Cena: Although Ryback got his licks in via strikes Gorilla Press variations and Powerbombs, Cena was able to slowly but surely infuriate the members of the Authority at ringside with his ability to stay in the fight. Unable to get Ryback to tap with the STF, Cena hit the Belly-to-Back Suplex but interference from Kane stopped Cena in his tracks and later stopped Ryback from delivering the Meathook Clothesline. Soon enough, the match was thrown out and every competitor was in the ring. After The Authority dominated early on Ryback who was originally taken out by Kane, fought back and evened things up. The show ended back stage however as Luke Harper took out Ziggler and offered to join The Authority.
