Hell’s Kitchen All-Stars Episode 13 Recap

It’s the first ever episode of All-Star black jackets in “Hell’s Kitchen All-Stars.” You’d think that these chefs would have learned a thing or two, and you’d be wrong.

This episode started with partitions that had each chef’s name on it. Those were for the weeks’ challenge where each chef had to teach a student how to cook a dish and the way they were introduced was by walking through each chef’s name. Obviously, these weren’t ordinary students, no. These were athletes. To start, Milly had retired NFL player Ricky Williams; Michelle had “LA Sparks” center Candice Parker; Benjamin had former NFL player Shawne Merriman; Nick had retired gymnast Jordyn Wieber and Robyn had “the greatest Indiana Pacer of all time” Reggie Miller.

The was one curveball here: The chefs had to teach them how to cook their signature dishes from Episode 1. With all things considered, these chefs did a great job teaching and these athletes did a great job cooking. This tasting was “King of the Hill.” Meaning, the best team had to sit a throne and the other chefs had to beat that dish. If one chef does, the “king” gets dethroned. The team who’s king at the end won. Surprisingly, each dish was better than the last, making each team king. The only one who didn’t sit was Benjamin’s, with Michelle winning the challenge.

Michelle’s reward was a helicopter ride above Downtown Los Angeles and lunch at “71 Above.” She did get to choose who she wanted to come with her and chose Nick. Nothing interesting happened.

The west of the chefs had to suffer through “Deep Cleaning Day.” Milly decided that since he was going to do the punishment, he would taste any food leftover from the challenge. Robyn was also getting annoyed at Milly because she asked him to help her lift heavy objects and he refused.

For the very first Black Jacket dinner service, the chef’s table was occupied by rapper Wyclef Jean. If you’re one of those people who think Black Jackets mean no mistakes, you’re in for a rude awakening.

Things started off with Milly’s pan burning, forcing him to start again. Later, Robyn brought up a bland couscous. Ramsay was constantly on Benjamin’s back because he was not giving out cooking times. Nick would then undercook an NY strip for Wyclef Jean’s table. That is not something you’d do for a chef’s table, especially when you have a black jacket on you. To put salt on the wound, Ramsay took these “Black Jacket All-Stars” to the pantry all because Robyn burned Brussels sprouts and said, “I don’t want to send that.” That pantry has had a lot of use this season, huh?

After service, Ramsay asked Michelle to talk with the other four chefs and come up with names for elimination. She chose Robyn and Milly. Ramsay eliminated Robyn.

Robyn getting eliminated is a tough pill to swallow. She may have started off weak, but she greatly improved over time. At this point, it seems like either Michelle or Milly will win. Nick is a maybe and Benjamin is a no way. Since next week will be when Ramsay decides who will go to the finale, things are going to heat up to surface of the sun levels.
