Before we post our exclusive interview with pop sensation Colbie Caillat, we figured we’d share some of the answers to a few of the questions that didn’t make it into the article.
Review Fix: Coca Cola or Pepsi?
Colbie Caillat: Water.
RF: Spider-Man- or Superman?
Caillat: Music.
RF: Speaking of music, Billy Joel or Elton John?
Caillat: Billy Joel.
RF: Favorite song to listen to before you go on stage?
Caillat: John Mayer, “I don’t trust myself [with loving you].â€
RF: Family Guy or South Park.
Caillat: I’m like the only person in the world that doesn’t like either of those shows. I like “The Office†with Steve Carell though.
RF: Favorite sport?
Caillat: Swimming.
RF: Favorite thing to do when it’s raining that has nothing to do with music?
Caillat: Just hanging out with my friends and just relaxing. That feels so good. I also like to run in the rain too.
RF: Guilty pleasure movie?
Caillat: I’m not embarrassed about this, but my favorite movie is “Dumb and Dumber.â€
RF: Favorite clothing line?
Caillat: Free People. Their clothes are all very beachy and soft and comfortable and flowy.
RF: What was the last movie you saw in theaters?
Caillat: Wow. Either “Role Models†or “He Just Not That Into You.â€
RF: There’s one song on the album, “Rainbow,†that is extremely catchy and energetic. What was the inspiration behind it?
Caillat: We wrote that song in Hawaii on this rainy day and this rainbow came out. We wanted it to be sunny out so we wrote that song and then we matched the music and melody to the lyrics. In production, we continued with that idea and it worked out great.
RF: When you first felt like you were starting to hit it big, what did you get to congratulate yourself?
Caillat: I just bought my first house, but I think that’s more of an investment. The first thing I splurged on is my car- it’s a Porsche Cayenne. I contemplated it forever, because it is expensive and it isn’t very environmentally friendly, but I wanted one. I’m never home, so it would only be driven around once in a while and I wanted to do something where I was the only person who had a say. I wanted to be able to have fun when I was home, so that was the one thing I splurged on.
RF: You remember the first song you blasted in the car?â€
Caillat: My favorite song is Bob Marley’s “Waiting in Vain.†I listen to it at some point everyday- I love it; so if it had to be one, that would probably have been it.
