A Hungry Man’s Home

dexter_wall_03_1280x1024Thanksgiving is a holiday where family gets together, celebrating a wonderful turkey feast, with tons of food and happiness. However, in the Mitchell house, things are far different.

In the ninth episode of this season, “Hungry Man,” we get a look at what life is really like in the Trinity home. There are so many shocking events that take place that even Dexter himself is appalled.

“Hungry Man” explores the Mitchell family – especially Arthur’s son, Jonah – going through misery and pain at the hands of his dad: Arthur Mitchell, the Trinity killer. Jonah opens up to Dexter (Michael C. Hall), telling him what a monster his dad is, and how badly he treats his mom and sister. Dexter avoids his family for a bit by going to the Mitchell home, where he discovers shocking events. He notices that Trinity locks his daughter in her room, and puts locks all over the windows. A shocked Dexter now knows what type of maniac he is dealing with.

An intense scene has Arthur and his son watching a football game, when out of nowhere, Trinity grabs Jonah’s hand and breaks his finger. Another fascinating scene was at the dinner table, where we see the true character of Trinity come out after all the family members, along with Dexter, talk about what they’re thankful for, and not mentioning anybody being thankful for Arthur.

Trinity then shows his feelings, which causes his son to lash out and start yelling at him, revealing that he is a fake and a killer by smashing the urn that held Vera, Trinity’s sister. He then chokes out Jonah, and we see the beast of Dexter become unleashed as he strangles Trinity with a towel, then drags him into the kitchen and tells him that he should have killed him when he had the chance.

Trinity looks on with fear as the rest of the family walks in and sees a butcher knife that Dexter carried behind him. They all scream and Dexter storms out, yelling and smashing his hands on the wheel. We see Harry tell Dexter that he has showed Trinity the beast inside of him, and that he has no choice now but to kill him.

Laguerta and Bautista’s relationship gets spicier as they both tell each other the L-word. An interesting situation occurred over at Dexter’s house while he was at the Mitchell’s, one involving Rita and her neighbor, Elliot.

Elliot kisses Rita and tells her that he likes her. Rita immediately tells him that she loves Dexter. Meanwhile, Massuka sees the whole thing, assuming that Rita is cheating on Dexter. An intense moment and shocking event that was, but the scary thing is how will Dexter react if Massuka tells him what he saw.

The climax ending of “Road Kill” reveals that another person that Trinity is related to, which will make your jaw drop. This episode was one of the strongest and more intense of this season. With only three remaining, it is like the accelerator has been stepped on and the ride is at full speed.
