Genesis Repertory is honored to have Councilman Vincent Gentile staff member Rocco Buonpane appear as Commander Marcellus in this production. A former student of Jay Michaels from his days at Kingsborough, Mr. Buonpane is now a successful actor and producer.
Genesis ends its first first year in Brooklyn this Saturday with a special presentation of the lost edition of Hamlet. Discovered 200 years after Shakespeare’s death,
this version of the play is two hours shorter, and contains actual whole scenes and plot developments not found in the established version!
Still in old English, this version is considered much more easy to understand. Genesis will open its children’s division with a production of Alice In Wonderland in the end of August and will return with a full season of plays and films in October.
IN THIS PRODUCTION:
Artistic Director Mary Elizabeth MiCari reprises her role of the Queen having played it for Genesis in 1999 and in 2001 with David Canary (“All My Children” as the King;
Jay Michaels plays the King in this production having been in Hamlet 8 times before;
John Stillwaggon and Miguel Sierra battle to the death in this production as Hamlet and Leartes – after battling to the death as Mercutio and Tybalt in Romeo & Juliet last May; George Tsalikis (appearing as the Player King) is the lead singer for the international rock group, Zandelle;
Councilman Vincent Gentile staff member Rocco Buonpane appears as Commander Marcellus in this production.
