“Amerimacka (TC Remix)” – Thievery Corporation

There’s nothing like a reggae beat to get you either in the mood to dance or lay back on a hammock somewhere. “Amerimacka” from the DJ duo Thievery Corporation has created a mixed beat track that you can’t help but love. The richness of their background and their work with other artists have afforded them a wealth of languages and musical genres to draw from and it’s heard to the delight of whoever chooses to download it.

“Beautiful People” – The Books

Folktronica? Who knew there was such a thing and that it could be done well. Apparently this type of music has elements of medieval melody mixed with a rocking guitar sound. In the case of The Books’ “Beautiful People” it’s an intriguing experiment in sound that you’ll like listening to.

“Queen of the Sun” – Windsor for the Derby

From their album Against Love, “Queen of the Sun” Windsor for the Derby has a lyrical lullaby of a track that will make you feel like an exposed raw nerve. Although you wouldn’t normally connect the two ideas that what makes this track so deliciously addictive to listen to. You’re simultaneously being lulled and feeling at you most vulnerable as the guitar plays urgently in the background.

“Truck Driver’s Blues featuring Willie Nelson” – Asleep at the Wheel

Anything with Willie Nelson is worth a listen. He may be best known for “To All The Girls I’ve Loved Before” with Julio Iglesias, but he’s been in this game longer than a minute and collaborates best within his own genre of country music. You’ll love this track and look for anything with both Asleep at the Wheel and Willie Nelson’s name on it.

“It’s Only Another Parsec…” – Rx Bandits

Do you love your rock with a touch of reggae? Well then you need to download “It’s Only Another Parsec…” by Rx Bandits. If you need a reference think No Doubt’s “Spiderweb.” Not only is it a solid track, it’s short and to the point. You couldn’t ask for a better freebie download.

“The Orient” – Foals

You won’t know why you like this song and you won’t care. Some tracks sound silly and it doesn’t matter if there’s a point or not. The heavy rocking drums and guitar also help the good melodic vibe; which seems to go against the narrative lyrics of confusion with a tinge of anger and some self-depreciation thrown in for good measure. Overall it’s worth the price of admission.

“Don’t Take What’s Mine” – Stacy Clark

The melody is infectious, Stacy Clark’s voice is a delight and there’s even a horn section. What’s not to like about “Don’t Take What’s Mine?” Get it – now.
