‘Marilyn’ by Larsen B- Free I-Tunes Single of the Week

If a person hears the title “Larsen B,” their first thought might automatically be of the ice shelf in Antarctica that collapsed in 2002.

Though this is true, it is also the name of a band from Wheathampstead, Hertfordshire that is slowly building popularity in the United Kingdom. Their genre consists of some indie-rock, not much acoustic folk, but a spice of orchestral tendencies.

In 2007, Larsen B’s first EP, “The Treasured Memories of Cecil Element” was the beginning of the progress they were making, due to a mix of different styles. In 2008, they then signed themselves to Try Harder Records, where the quality of their music was gradually increasing.

In July of 2010, Larsen B’s debut album “Musketeer” was released. It is concocted of melodies that are highly similar to that of Coldplay and Snow Patrol. This record is able to integrate both an abundance of carefree nature along with a great amount of effectiveness. Throughout the tracks, the trio, Will Baguley, Simon Palmer and Paddy Smith, consistently describe the summer surroundings that they experience, almost as if winter never existed.

Their hit single off of this CD, called “Marilyn,” is the type to easily get hooked onto.

Baguley, Palmer and Smith combine a sweet voice, soothing keyboard tunes, energetic guitar riffs and simplistic drum beats that are able to produce such a lively track. When heard, such a song can make the listener lay back and forget about everything else around them.

“Marilyn” definitely carries a blend of charm and richness to it.

The entire song is filled with an aura of warmness and innocence. Not to mention, the vibe of relaxation and feeling safe is something that anybody is capable of enjoying.

With the intention of gradually weaving glorious and well crafted pop songs for the world to hear, Larsen B did just that through the wonderful sounds of “Marilyn.”
