“Frozen Zoo” – Tera Melos

“Frozen Zoo” by Tera Melos will remind you of the avant-garde genre of music. It’s a category where things are defined as art that is beyond comprehension. In other words, it’s a confusing cacophony of sound that may seem above your head, but it just might change your life once you understand what’s going on. If you’re into music that’s an enigma wrapped around a riddle, then this track is for you.

“Come and Get It” – Eli “Paperboy” Reed

“Come and Get It” has a Sam & Dave vibe that’ll have you out of your seat and dancing around in no time. Eli “Paperboy” Read has a real gem on his hand with this track. Definitely a keeper.

“Lucky Man” – Ronnie Wood

Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones lets his guitar playing skills shine on “Lucky Man.” It’s one of those songs that celebrate all the good things about rock music – solid rhythms, straight-forward lyrics and the feeling that you’ve had a good time just by listening to it.

“Keep Me In Mind” – Zac Brown Band

There’s nothing like a good guitar lick and rocking harmonies. That’s just what the Zac Brown Band has with “Keep Me In Mind.” No matter what type of mood you’re in you’ll enjoy listening to this upbeat and at times sublime track.

“Famine Affair” – Of Montreal

Self-absorbing lyrics can sometimes work when you’re in a mood to indulge yourself in melancholia. But the music should at least be listenable. “Famine Affair” is the ramblings of a loser and no one needs to listen to that. Skip it.

“Diamondback” – J. Tillman

The subtle guitar playing in J. Tillman’s “Diamondback” is just the right tempo to support the story being sung about. You don’t want anything to interfere with Tillman’s haunting voice and the way he interprets the lyrics. This track will have you seeking out his other songs. Try it.

“The Open Road” – John Hiatt

It’s John Hiatt and it’s free – just go out and download it. You’ll never hear rhythmic, rocking harmonies with a guitar heavy melody like the way John Hiatt does it. Besides who else can make a curse word a legitimate lyric?
