Booming with an electro-hip hop flow, Far East Movement’s ‘Don’t Look Now,’ featuring Keri Hilson, is a song that can perfectly sum up the vibe that a typical nightclub scene has to offer.
Though it may be drastically dosed with auto-tune, the track’s melodies and beats are fairly catchy.
Because of its catchiness, there’s no doubt that people wouldn’t want to dance to such a tune while attending a nightclub.
The members of Far East Movement include Kev Nish, Prohgress, J-Splif and DJ Virman, in which present an image of distinct generations of Chinese/Japanese, Korean and Filipino backgrounds. This allows their genre and style to stand out more than most electronic dance rap groups.
Each member has great potential when it comes to their choice of sound and words, but the adjustment to their real voices can get slightly irritating.
If auto-tune weren’t used, Far East Movement would most likely receive much more respect and credibility for the music that they create.
The additional vocals that Hilson donates definitely serves an outstanding purpose. Her tone of voice and pitches are highly suitable when it comes to the song’s rhythm.
Even though it’s not technically her song, she enthusiastically performs the chorus as if it were her own.
‘Don’t Look Now’ won’t necessarily impress many, but the overall message and lyrics can certainly relate to a majority of teenagers and/or party-goers.
