Ryan is about to turn the big 30 and begins searching for male models-bartenders for his birthday party. Instead of gifts, Ryan wants his guests to bring their checkbooks to make a donation to an organization that helps the gay youths of the city who are also homeless.
By the way, the models featured on show are not gay; most male models are not. Those are the breaks: they aspire to be gawked over by men in gay media outlets while they are home with their wives and children.
Austin and Reichen are planning to go out on the town in an effort to catch up with each other. Austin says that he is over Reichen but Stevie Wonder could see, as clear as day, that Austin still wants Reichen. He also confesses that when he first met Rodiney, he just wanted to help him out, which is a far cry from being in love with someone.
Rodiney confides in Derek and tells him that he is bisexual during another attempt to find contacts for modeling agencies in New York and Rodiney’s words are still closed captioned on the screen. Derek also lets him know about Austin and Reichen’s past.
Ryan does his dentist, known only as Dr. Juan, for Botox injections to prepare for his party. He and his dentist are probably on a first name basis because Botox injections in the face are not something that you do in a dentist’s office.
Mike does his best to help out Rodiney with his career by taking new head shots of him for his portfolio. It was messy and dirty and it doesn’t look like it was going the way that Mike wanted it to go in the beginning, but it ended well enough.
Ryan calls over his personal stylist to figure out what he wants to wear to his party. Ryan prefers to have one time wear only clothing that are overpriced.
Reichen and Rodiney go searching for a place of their own after dating for only a few months. Reichen is particular and anal about his personal space and Rodiney, apparently, is the complete opposite. And they say that lesbians move into relationships too fast. Ann, Reichen’s mother, comes to New York to see his play and she advises him to take his time with Rodiney.
Austin is trying his hardest to get back into the “A†crowd and tries to find some common ground with Derek while they were in the Hamptons. Austin feels disrespected when Derek takes a call from a man named Eric. Eric is the owner of the restaurant they were at, and tries to end Derek’s conversation for him. That was a big mistake on his part: that call probably got their meal on the house.
Word finally gets back to Reichen about Austin’s true motives and his consistently bad mouthing a certain part of Reichen’s male anatomy before Ryan’s party, which puts him a bad mood.
Ryan’s cocktail party finally happens and all of the major players are there.
Reichen has to leave early for rehearsal, but not without taking some time out talk to Austin about his mouth. And Austin is lying through his teeth to cover himself to Reichen and to Derek, the instigator of the group.
The tension is building and as the show continues, it is only going to get worse. That will only make it more fun to watch.
