HABITS debut album returns to #1 on Billboard Heatseekers chart, 33 weeks out
(New York, NY) Mercury Records group Neon Trees is making a habit out of hitting the top of the charts – as their million selling single “Animal†takes over the #1 spot at Hot AC. The track spent 4 consecutive weeks at #1 Alternative earlier this fall, and is currently #10-bullet on the Billboard Hot 100. “Animal†is the first single from Neon Trees’ debut album, HABITS, which hit #1 on the Heatseekers chart three weeks ago and returns to #1 Heatseekers again this week.
This coming weekend, Neon Trees commences a mini-tour of headlining cross-country dates, starting November 12th at University of California at Santa Barbara, and closing at the House Of Blues in Cleveland on November 30th. (Please see itinerary below.)
Neon Trees bandmates Tyler Glenn and Elaine Bradley recently guested on the newest [36th] edition of Live from Daryl’s House, the free monthly webcast show, which goes up on November 15th. They joined host Daryl Hall for a six-song set that included “Adult Education†and “Head Above Water,†from the classic Hall & Oates album, Private Eyes. Daryl and the band also performed four songs from HABITS, including “Animal,†“1983,†“Love and Affection,†and “Farther Down.â€
Upcoming, Neon Trees will be the musical guests on TBS’s new Conan with Conan O’Brien on November 24th, the night before Thanksgiving; and on NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on January 13th. The band appeared on TBS’s Lopez Tonight with George Lopez in October; and on ABC’s Live with Regis & Kelly last Thursday, November 4th.
Also in October, the promo video for Neon Trees’ new single “1983†premiered on #1 music site VEVO; it is also airing on mtvU and FUSE. The clip was directed on location in Santa Ana, California by Paul Coy Allen, best known for the series of videos he directed for Timbaland’s Shock Value 2 album, “Morning After Dark†(featuring Soshy & Nelly Furtado), “Say Something†(featuring Drake), and “If We Ever Meet Again†(featuring Katy Perry).
“Animal†began its climb up the singles charts in late-summer, fed by a BIG add at New York City radio Z-100. When Entertainment Weekly posted its “best bets for airwave domination come autumn†– “Animal†led the pack at the top of the list. Said programmer Sharon Dastur of Z-100: “They really fill that alternative pop-rock sound that radio’s been missing. There’s been nothing of this texture since the Killers’ big hits, and I think [Neon Trees will] take over that role.†Also ‘In late October, Neon Trees performed for iheartradio at the intimate P.C. Richard & Son Theater located in TriBeCa, NYC. The band performed tracks off of Habits plus a cover of ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ by INXS for a crowd of 200 lucky fans. Select tracks will launch in late November on iheartradio.com.’
Neon Trees – Tyler Glenn (lead vocals, keyboards), Chris Allen (guitars), Branden Campbell (bass), Elaine Bradley (drums, vocals) – was also named Artist Of The Week at RollingStone.com, which had nothing but raves for their album: “HABITS is filled with Eighties pop meshed with bombastic alt-rock choruses – like the Killers playing backup for Duran Duran. ‘Your Surrender’ is a U2-style singalong, ‘1983’ is a bratty dose of keyboard-driven pop punk and Hot 100 single ‘Animal’ is an irresistibly catchy lovesick dance tune.â€
