Missing Pieces, Wasted Chances

Aside from Ric Flair turning his back on Fourtune and Mr. Anderson giving his Mic Check finisher on Eric Bischoff and intensifying his feud with Jeff Hardy, this week’s episode of TNA Impact! was mediocre at best.

With no defense of the Tag Team titles, the TV title still out of commission with Abyss injured and Kazarian finding himself in a feud with Robbie E [insert first pump here], TNA has no heat on any of their heels.

As a matter of fact, many of the current storylines make no sense. Why did Robbie E get away with beating up Kazarian? Where was Fourtune? Are we to believe that the strongest faction in the company would let a lower-mid-carder and his valet beat up one of their members?

Get real.

Think of it this way: Imagine back in WCW in 1997. Lets just say that Alex Wright beat Konnan with a nice-looking German suplex and then tried to take liberties with him afterwards.

What do you think would have happened?

He would have walked away dancing?

Um, no.

The NWO would have been down to the ring faster than Sean Waltman could open his mouth and say something crazy, beating the tar out of Das Wunderkind from pillar to post, before spray painting him.

Who knows what TNA plans to do with any of these angles right now.

Right now, it seems like they don’t even know.

The feud between Samoa Joe and The Pope [who is trying noticeably too a disaster as well, with the emotionless crowd at the Impact Zone not caring what happened. One of the best wrestlers in the world, Samoa Joe is being wasted in TNA. With Immortal incredibly weak right now, it makes sense that Hernandez, who is essentially their freelance ass-kicker right now, teams up with Joe, not only become the stable’s new muscle, but challenge Beer Money for the Tag Team titles. Nothing against Gunner and Murphy, but these guys are too green still to be taken seriously by the fans.

With the Motor City Machine Guns out of action right now as well, TNA needs a decent angle in the Tag Team division.

Speaking of wrestlers being wasted, TNA has Matt Morgan and Christopher Daniels sitting backstage while Knockouts get to wrestle for 12 minutes every Impact. What is going on here? While Velvet Sky is the best looking woman in wrestling and Sarita, Angelina Love, Madison Rayne and Tara are capable workers, but seriously, give the real fans some great matches and find another way to feature the hotties.

The bottom line is simple: TNA needs some drama right now and it’s safe to say that the way things are right now, they’re looking in the wrong places. No one cares about Jeff Jarrett re-marrying Karen Angle-Jarrett- that angle should have been pushed last summer when it meant something.

But that’s what TNA feels like overall- something that would have been cool a while ago.
