Just when you were at your boiling point, after a horrible Divas championship match, after The Miz somehow cleanly beat a much more talented Daniel Bryan, after WWE creative thought it would be cute to have Hornswoggle kiss a teenager (at least have him shave his beard), and even after John Cena and the rest of the babyfaces took out the Nexus for the millionth time…
Wait…none of that matters anymore.
The Rock is back.
Cutting a promo for Wrestlemania that spiced things up creatively, the Rock voiced his displeasure over the title reign of The Miz and told the WWE Universe that he is here to stay.
That wasn’t the best part though.
The Rock apparently doesn’t like John Cena.
For the millions (and millions) of WWE fans out there that respect Cena, but miss the days of 3:16 and the People’s elbow, it was like their prayers were finally answered. The fact that Rock didn’t tone himself down, in spite of WWE’s PG rating was impressive too, as the fans in attendance quickly got behind him.
It was like he never left.
Truth be told, WWE creative did the smartest thing they could have by having The Rock pick on Cena, bringing one generation of fans back from the grave and forcing millions of youngsters to rally for their bright shirt-wearing leader. For weeks, fans and critics of the show have voiced their opinions on what looked like a weak Wrestlemania card and the inclusion of The Rock, the WWE finally has some wiggle room creatively.
Think about it; things can only get better. With the Rock back, Triple back soon (he’s on a house show card against Sheamus in a few weeks) and possibly Undertaker and even Sting getting in the mix, Wrestlemania, at the very least, will live up to its name.
Oh, the possibilities. Cena vs. The Rock, when and where it eventually happens, will be a huge draw and will reignite the 20-34 demographic that were sick of playing peek-a-boo with Cena every week. Capable of having a great match with just about anybody, the entire roster should be on notice: this guy can make you something special.
When was the last time that company had someone like that around?
It doesn’t matter.
He’s back now and isn’t going anywhere.
