Is He Becoming Awesome?

A few months ago, the WWE appeared as if they had no idea how to write a storyline for The Miz as WWE champion. Appearing entirely too cowardly and barely wrestling, the future of the WWE looked to be in a grim place with him as champion. Now, with three weeks left until the company’s biggest pay per view of the year, not only does the WWE look like a completely different promotion, but The Miz is easily the hottest heel the company has right now.

Just the looks on the thousands of purple shirt wearing fans of John Cena proved it. They hate The Miz. Because of that, millions of fans sick of Cena being on top are slowly finding a new heel they can get behind.

Speaking of people worth getting behind, MTV’s Snookie was a bigger hit on RAW than originally expected. Facing her off against Vicki Guerrero was an instant hit and in spite of her lack of wrestling skills, she fit in with Trish Stratus and John Morrison, who she’ll also tag with at Wrestlemania against Laycool and Dolph Ziggler.

While it’s a bit unconventional, the WWE had to find a way to get Morrison and Ziggler on the card; they’re just too good in the ring to overlook.

Aside from Snookie’s appearance and The Miz destroying both Great Khali and John Cena, this week’s RAW also featured the return of Grand Master Sexay Brian Christopher AKA Brian Lawler, who came to berate his father in defense of Michael Cole. Even though his promo ability is weak, Christopher is in good shape. It would be interesting to see him feud with his dad before ole Jerry hangs them up.

Also returning was Jim Ross, who was put in two ankle locks for defending his longtime broadcast partner. This angle is trying its hardest to get over and while it’s not exactly stale, seeing Cole use the ankle lock was pretty pathetic.

However, the best part of RAW was the match between Daniel Bryan and Sheamus, which saw the Celtic Warrior become the new United States Heavyweight Champion. Probably getting his rematch at Wrestlemania, Bryan has the ability to craft a classic with the huge ginger grappler. One of the most matches on RAW so far this year, these two can tear down the house if given an opportunity.

With so much going on, it’s a wonder why the WWE doesn’t at least attempt to push a similar pace all year. The shows are better and there’s so much more energy. Overall, if you’re a fan of WWE programming, it’s hard to deny how much fun RAW has been lately.
