Dredg PRE-ORDERS OF ‘CHUCKLES AND MR. SQUEEZY’ AVAILABLE NOW; “UPON RETURNING” STREAMING ON ALTPRESS.COM

Fans can now pre-order CHUCKLES AND MR. SQUEEZY, the forthcoming album by dredg, at CMDistro (http://bit.ly/igHxaK). Due out May 3 on Superball Music, the songs were produced by Dan The Automator and recorded at Studio Trilogy in San Francisco, David Chloe’s art studio in Los Angeles, and at Dan’s home studio in the Bernal Heights neighborhood of San Francisco.

Altpress.com is exclusively hosting a stream of the new song “Upon Returning.” A video for the track was recently shot in San Francisco with Merkley at the director’s helm. It will be ready for TV and Internet consumption in the coming weeks.

“We just wrapped the video for ‘Upon Returning’ with San Francisco photographer Merkley,” explains guitarist Mark Engles. “He also designed and shot our new press photos. It was easily the most fun and interesting video we’ve done to date. Let’s just say that now we’ve all swam in suits and dress shoes, and we have some bruises on our faces.

“Our next video shoot is going to be with illustrator Alex Pardee and Stephen Reedy for ‘The Thought of Losing You,’ which we’re shooting this month. The concept will be full of contrasting imagery: one moment dark and depressing, the next shiny and glamorous with some monsters thrown in somewhere. Being fans of Alex Pardee’s illustrations has us very excited.”

In an early review of CHUCKLES AND MR. SQUEEZY, Chris Harris of Gunshyassassin.com noted: “This is the progression dredgdredg fans who also happen to dig Dan The Automator’s work with Lovage and Gorillaz.” fans have been waiting for…especially

Meanwhile, dredg has posted another teaser video clip on their various websites. Set to the new song, “Down Without A Fight,” it shows bass player Drew Roulette creating the mask seen on the cover of CHUCKLES AND MR. SQUEEZY. Fans can check it out here: http://bit.ly/g7F52T.

“Everything feels very refreshing for us right now,” continues Mark about working with Dan The Automator. “After making records for as long as we have, this was important to us. We’ve been fortunate enough on this record to work with artists from our area (San Francisco) that we’ve been fans of for years. Dan gave us a perspective and style we’ve never had before. Drew collaborated with his brother, Beau Roulette, to design the characters and artwork for the album. The whole package will be like nothing else we’ve ever put together. It has a dark, humorous, pop feeling with serious tones riding underneath. Now we just have to go tour, tour, tour.”

And that’s just what they’ll be doing as the band–Gavin Hayes (vocals, guitars), Drew Roulette (bass, samples), Mark Engles (guitars) and Dino Campanella (drums, keyboards)—gets ready to head out on their first round of headlining tour dates (along with The Dear Hunter, Balance and Composure, and Trophy Fire) starting with two shows in Los Angeles on May 3 and 4 at the Roxy.
