Here are our predictions for this year’s Wrestlemania.
Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan for the United States Heavyweight Title: This will be the match of the night. These guys have solid chemistry and Bryan is the best worker in the company right now.
Prediction: A 15-minute classic that has both competitors shelling out all of their offensive maneuvers. While Bryan loses, he looks good doing it and Sheamus makes his case as one of the company’s rising stars, washing away the remnants of a long losing streak earlier in the year.
Cody Rhodes vs. Rey Mysterio: This has the possibility of being one of the best matches of the night, if Rhodes can step up and be the performer many of his fans think he is. Mysterio will sell a lot throughout this match and will need to- Rhodes is someone the company wants over, but hasn’t gotten there yet.
Prediction: Mysterio wins in a fast-paced 10-minute match that shows Rhodes is more than a handsome guy.
The Corre vs. Kane, Big Show, Vladimir Kozlov and Santino Marella: The Corre has three titles, but still aren’t over. They need to win this match and bad. While Kozlov and Marella aren’t exactly over, they’re in a better spot than the youngsters in The Corre. Kane and Big Show are mainstays, so the end result of this match should be an obvious one.
Prediction: Wade Barrett and his cronies get the job done, making the most of ineffective communication between Show and the rest of his team.
John Morrison, Trish Stratus and Snooki vs. Dolph Ziggler and Lay Cool: Next to the Cole/Lawler match, this will be the worst match of the night, but will be one of the most entertaining. What role will Vicki Guerrero play?
Prediction: Snooki gets the pin on Layla, with Trish Stratus, Morrison and Ziggler doing most of the heavy lifting.
CM Punk vs. Randy Orton: This storyline has fizzed out incredibly quickly over the past few weeks. Nevertheless, it’s going to be a high-quality match that will be a good transition to one of the lighter, entertainment-heavy bouts.
Prediction: CM Punk wins with no help from anyone, firmly establishing him as a legitimate heel and leading the way for this story to continue further into the year. Orton doesn’t need the win here and if he brings his A-game, can help make Punk the star the company needs him to be.
Jerry Lawler vs. Michael Cole: This match’s success will ultimately be determined by how much of a beating Cole takes. If he gets cut or piledriven, it could be a classic, not for athletic prowess exhibited, but for the fact that Cole has drawn so much heat leading up to this match. Expect Stone Cold and Jack Swagger to play a role as well.
Prediction: Cole gets a beating and Stone Cold delivers his fair share of stunners, helping King win back his respect.
Undertaker vs. Triple H: This is going to be a bloody brawl, which will go down as one of the best matches in both of these icons’ careers. Can the Undertaker continue the streak?
Prediction: Undertaker is taken to the limit by Triple H, but comes out victorious despite the participation of Shawn Michaels in the match.
Edge vs. Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight title: Hopefully Brodus Clay and Christian don’t play too big a part in this contest and there’s a clean victory. This feud has been building for months, with Del Rio doing little wrestling and too much manipulating. It’s time for him to show what he’s capable of. Win or lose, this is the most important match of his WWE career.
Prediction: Del Rio cheats and doesn’t get caught, winning his first WWE title.
The Miz vs. John Cena: Like Del Rio, this is a huge match for Miz, but unlike Del Rio, he’s been built-up much better over the past two months. With The Rock obviously going to play a part in the match, Miz can get over as a heel even more by continuing to be the opportunist he has proven himself to be. Plus, Cena is already over and doesn’t need a win here.
Prediction: The Miz wins after The Rock causes Cena to lose the match in one way or another.
