For those expected a similar experience to last year “Avatar Golf” on the XBLA, think again.
Make no mistake about it, “Avatar Paintball” is a dirty, disgusting, disorganized mess.
And that’s before you get hit with any paint balls.
It’s a shame too considering how much potential it had, with both solid graphics and online play.
Nevertheless, by the end of it all, the game will not only leave a stain on your avatar’s shirt, but your wallet as well.
Considering it’s uber cheap selling point at 80 Microsoft points, many gamers will want to take the plunge on this one. They should be forewarned here though and shouldn’t expect any type of remote satisfaction from this title.
The biggest problem this title has is its vanilla approach. There’s no cross-hairs to aim with, which means you have any idea where your balls are going [yes, it sounds dirty, and does an excellent job of describing the feeling you’ll have inside your soul while playing this game]. This makes the game a disaster. Even worse, you can be two feet away from an opponent and still not hit them.
However, the worst element of the game is the lack of a jump button. With no way to dodge incoming balls and no way to aim, this game should have been called “Avatar Hide and Seek.”
That’s ultimately what this game ends up feeling like, as all the fun and intrigue that comes with this hybrid sport is washed away and made into a bland haphazard title that isn’t at all close to being worth its pitiful 80 Microsoft point price.
