Louie Season Two Coverage: More Sighs Than Anything Else

It is sad to say that thus far, season two of “Louie” has not been nearly as funny as the first season. Although this episode did start with a few laughs, the rest of it was simply plain and dull.

Overall, it was too easy to drift away this week.

After Louie does a show in Atlantic City, the outcome is not what he expected, which causes him to have a bad night. This forces him to quit the remaining shows he has left in AC. Louie then walks in on a performance by Joan Rivers, who draws many laughs from the audience. Louie likes what he sees and meets Rivers after the show.

Rivers and Louie are in her hotel suite and she talks to him about the comedy business and what she had to do get to where she is. Louie’s gullable expressions and personality make this scene very funny. However, there were a few moments that dragged and were repetitive.

Other than a special guest appearance from Joan Rivers, there was very little that went on in this episode. The laughs were limited. Louie gets Lucky with Joan, which was very far fetched and she gets Louie back into comedy. Other than that, this episode had very little to offer.

Because of too many linear moments such as this one, there have been more sighs than laughs this season. It’s a true shame, considering CK is one of the funniest comedians in the country. Lets hope the laughs come soon.

I grew up in Bensonhurst Brooklyn, the same neighborhood many of the best mafia films of our day were based on, idolizing guys like Robert Deniro, Martin Scorsese and Al Pacino. I'm also a big sports fan and follow the New York Yankees immensely.

  1. Ughh. Dude, just stop watching the show if you expect a laugh fest. Louis has gone on record to say that he wrote this season differently than the last. This review made sigh.
