Wilfred Season One Coverage: Don’t Molest Dogs

Between the repetitive plot lines and the same cheesy relationship between a man and a man dressed up in a dog suit, it appears that “Wilfred” has become a show for the dogs.

Each week, this show seems to head in a different direction that keeps it away from the main storyline, sort of like a dog that chases its tail.

At first, the idea of a dog who smokes pot was funny, now the story is tiresome.

In this episode, there weren’t any funny moments. At first, that appeared not to be the case, with a special guest appearance from Ed Helms [“The Hangover”],but instead it had you very close to seeing what else was on television.

After Ryan’s sister trips over his guitar and gets a stress fracture in her ankle, he is forced to drive his sister to work. In the meantime, he decides to drop Wilfred off at a dog sitter played by Helms and little do both Ryan and Wilfred know, that the dog sitter is a a dog molester. When Ryan finally discovers what happens to Wilfred, he immediately comes to his rescue and like a nickelodeon cartoon the lesson of the show is revealed.

One scene involved Helms with Peanut butter along with Wilfred, which is all too disturbing to describe. Even though it tries to deliver a laugh, its overall result will make you cringe in your seat with discomfort anxiously as you hope for a commercial to occur.

Overall, this episode of Wilfred was lame and it looks like it will get worse. Unfortunately, for a show that seemed like it would be a hit, it looks as if it will end up a dud.

Where did this show’s bite go?

At the site, I'm a music, television and graphic novel kind of guy and that's what I'll be writing for the most part. Expect some book and music reviews as well though [insert demon horns here]. I grew up in Bensonhurst Brooklyn, the same neighborhood many of the best mafia films of our day were based on, idolizing guys like Robert Deniro, Martin Scorsese and Al Pacino. I'm also a big sports fan and follow the New York Yankees immensely.
