Ringer, “She’s Ruining Everything†– Original Air Date: September 20, 2011
Ah, finally Ringer is beginning to turn the wheels of a thickening plot, one episode at a time! With Bridget still living as Siobhan and Siobhan still in Paris trying to live in secret, the question remains: how long can the charade go on?
While the pilot lacked general cohesion, episode two definitely picked up the pace, setting the tone for how at least the next few episodes are set to pan out. This week’s episode deals greatly with the attacker from the pilot and how Bridget must hide and eventually dispose of the body—but every time she tries, she’s interrupted. And every time she tries to run away to her AA sponsor Malcolm, her only friend, something in Siobhan’s life comes up and forces her to stay.
Siobhan’s husband Andrew also decides that the cocktail benefit he and Siobhan had been planning would fit perfectly in their unfinished loft—the site where Bridget had been attacked, and also where she left the bloody body and the stolen gun. Uh-oh… Lucky for Bridget, the theme is nautical, and there is a decorative antique trunk the perfect size to hide a dead body in.
Apparently, however, Bridget forgot that the body is (a) bloody and (b) missing. First, the box begins to bleed right as FBI Agent Victor Machado shows up looking for Bridget. Then the attacker’s cellphone goes off in the middle of the benefit party. Luckily, Bridget is quick on her feet and handles both issues just fine, kicking out the detective and later opening the trunk to stop the ring at just the right angle to hide its contents.
Finally, Bridget is free to run—she had earlier cleared out Siobhan’s bank account. Cash and clothing in hand, she heads for the door but stops in her tracks when she finds Andrew’s daughter Juliet in the bathroom, puking her face off after taking some unknown pills at a bar. As Bridget used to be “that girl,†she decides to stay, and the two share a touching moment. She then calls Malcolm to inform him she isn’t coming after all, but as she goes to take care of the body once and for all, it’s completely gone.
The show ends with an update on Siobhan, still hiding out in Paris, trying to withdraw money—but she can’t, as Bridget closed the account. Plans foiled once again. Siobhan tells her mystery contact on her phone that “she’s ruining everything.â€
So what is Siobhan’s plan? Surely, she had hoped to run away and stay anonymous in France, but is there another sinister motive behind it? It’s becoming obvious that Siobhan planned to have Bridget killed in her place, but why go so far as to put your own sister on the line? The plot is thickening, and now it’s getting almost impossible to pull away…
Ringer airs Tuesdays at 9:00 p.m. on The CW.
