Review Fix 2011 New York Comic Con Coverage: Max Payne Announced for iPad and Select Mobile Devices

From the looks of it, Rockstar wants you to take their influential noir-shooter everywhere with you.

ReviewFix.com has learned that the Playstation 2 hit, “Max Payne” will be ported to the iPad and select mobile devices.

While no release date has been set or a price point announced, the project has been confirmed.

The game that forever changed the face of the third-person shooter, “Max Payne” implemented a slow-motion gameplay mechanic called “bullet time,” which has been since copied and adapted in dozens of other games and even mirrored in films such as “The Matrix” and “Spider-Man.”

A classic title while a cult-like following, its arrival on the iPad could make other major game developers repackage their content for the more mobile-focused game community.

At this year’s New York Comic Con, Rockstar games also showcased an iPad version of the Playstation 2 classic “Grand Theft Auto 3,” as a part of the title’s decade anniversary. This version of the game has updated HD graphics and simple-touch screen controls, without sacrificing nay of the fun of the original.

Could this be the case for “Max Payne” as well?

With volume three of the series coming to the 360 and PS3 in March, gamers may have a lot of great shooting fun ahead of them.
