The matches were short and lackluster. The storylines continue to be melodramatic and boring.
With a PPV in less than two weeks, not even the thought of a three-way match main event for the WWE title can spice things up.
In the end, all it means is the WWE brass doesn’t think a singles match with Punk can draw a decent buy rate.
They’re probably right. Between the joke of John Cena constantly tooting Zack Ryder’s horn every chance he gets and the furious and frenetic Twitter mentions throughout the show, RAW was barely watchable.
Even the WWE Network ad was a mess, as it felt like the producers of Pokemon made it. Between all the flashes and bad music, only a true WWE fanatic could enjoy it.
This show needs a fresh creative vision.
Aside from Ryder getting a noticeable push and some Punk pipe bombs, this RAW was a passable one.
Matches:
The Miz vs. Randy Orton: A routine match that was ruined after Orton got counted out as he ran after Wade Barrett. After 10 minutes of routine, low-impact, filler wrestling, it appeared the match was about to turn for the better. Nope.
Alberto Del Rio vs. Daniel Bryan: This could have been a technical showcase. Instead, after a few kicks and some flash from Bryan, he ended up tapping out to a cross-arm breaker. A waste of time.
Eve Torrez and Kelly Kelly w/ Alicia Fox vs. Nattie Niedhart and Beth Phoenix: The promo before the match was the most interesting thing during this encounter. When the crowd starts clapping less than a minute in, you know, you’re going home fast. Kelly Kelly’s quick rollup got the faces the win.
John Cena vs. Zack Ryder in a “Social Experimentâ€: Ryder looked good and used a few more moves than usual, as he hit a sleeper slam, Tornado DDT and a Samoa Joe boot in the turnbuckle. However, Cena made his customary comeback and was able to hit the Attitude Adjustment for the win.
World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry vs. Zack Ryder in a no DQ match: Ryder looked like he was in deep trouble, but with no DQ, Cena made Ryder a winner as he hit Henry with the Attitude Adjustment and got Ryder a title match for the United States Heavyweight title.
Kevin Nash vs. Santino Marella: Sidewalk Slam, Big Boot, Jacknife Powerbomb, three-count. Done and done. The only problem was the entire match looked like a physical struggle for Big Sexy. Nash is way past his prime and had trouble picking up Marella for his finish.
United States Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler w/ Vikki Guerrero vs. Sheamus: A routine match that got interesting once Zack Ryder came ringside and distracted Ziggler long enough for him to walk into a Bicycle Kick and the loss. After the match, Ryder hit Ziggler with the Rough Ryder.
