Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: War #2 Review: Going in the Right Direction

By Mandalore, things are starting to heat up in issue two of “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: War.”

The Mandalorian War rages on and Jedi failure Zayne Carrick has no other choice but to fight for the militia of his homeworld while keeping peace with both parties. It’s too bad Carrick doesn’t play much of a role in this issue. The scenes with Carrick make a character that was once interesting now seem boring. He doesn’t do anything worth noting this issue.

In fact, the Mandalorians themselves are much more interesting than he is.

Speaking of Mandalorians, we are introduced to some new Mandalorians and even a Mandalorian baby. Yes, they take their babies to the battle field. What a sweet idea. This comic does a good job of introducing these new characters. The Mandalorians are more interesting than Republic soldiers or Jedi Knights.

The story itself is more action oriented than the last issue, although there are stops in the battles for some exposition which does drag down the story some. The story does pick up some steam near the end though . What saves this story is the Mandalorians. It’s starting to become clear that the writers care more about these characters than Carrick and that’s good.

More Mandalorians and less Jedi.

The artwork in this issue is an improvement from the last. Everything from the characters to the landscapes look better. Even the battle scenes are an improvement. Although there are some parts that don’t look good at all, like some facial expressions on the non-human characters, these are few and far between. Still, the cover art looks better than the actual comic itself, even though the cover is boring to look at.

Artwork that’s an improvement over the last issue plus a story that focuses more on the Mandalorians than the Republic makes “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: War #2” a good issue, despite a middle that drags the story.
