Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: War # 3 Review: The ‘War’ Continues?

The Mandalorian War still wages in “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: War # 3.”

But first, we need to take a break for some back story and exposition. Grab a pillow for this one.

Carrick, along with former Jedi Master Dorjander Kace and the Mandalorians, take over the space cruiser Derapha. Here, Kace tells Carrick his back story and why he joined the Mandalorians. The story is not very exciting. Nor is it interesting. It sounds like every other story used by every Star Wars character who hates the Jedi. In fact nothing in this comic was interesting. It is the most boring issue in the whole series.

As usual, the biggest dent in this comic’s armor is Carrick. For a main character, he sure doesn’t do much except stand around, get bossed around by everyone and whine. He’s so unnoticeable that the only way you know he’s even in the comic is when the other characters mention his name. The comic tries so hard to make him important but fails miserably. The no name Mandalorians have more development than he does.

The artwork has improved slightly over the past two issues. This is noticeable when there are close-up shots. However, the cover art is still better looking than the actual art in the comic- there are some spots that don’t look as good- such the alien characters and the far away shots.

“Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: War # 3” is so far the black sheep of the series. Spouting a story that’ll put you to sleep and a main character that you still don’t care about makes this one not all that it’s cracked up to be. The artwork has shown some improvement, but there are still some weak spots that could be improved upon. There are still plenty of Mandalorians fighting the good fight and Republic scum to kill so the next issue should be an improvement.
