Bee Gees co-founder Robin Gibb passed away on Sunday after a long battle with colon and liver cancer, according to a family statement.
“The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery,” reads the statement, published in a piece on Rolling Stone. “The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time.”
Part of the legendary trio of brothers that sold over 200 million records worldwide, Gibb also had an accomplished singles career and collaborated with artists the likes of Chicago, Steve Winwood and Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys.
