As this thrilling season of The Walking Dead continues to excite and pull in the audience, a harsh reality finally sets in for the group and fans.
Death and drama.
This episode is an emotional powerhouse.
We start off with a mystery character that is not seen on the screen kill deer and leave the remains to the walkers who occupy the outside of the prison. We also see this mystery guest cut the chains off the gates that were set by Rick and the rest of the group.
From there, the aftermath that this will cause the group will be catastrophic.
While the two prisoners try and convince Rick they can be trusted, he is not satisfied. Walkers soon overrun the prison. The group is in a major dilemma, because they are now in danger. Lori, Rachel, and Carl are in a major jam because Lori’s water broke.
If pregnancy wasn’t enough, she has walkers on her tail.
The episode from here becomes extremely emotional, and it’s guaranteed that rivers of tears will be shed. Carl finds a maintenance room in the prison and Rachel has to deliver Lori’s baby. The problem is that there’s a complication and a c-section must be performed. However without the proper medical equipment Lori decides to sacrifice her life in order to save her baby.
Carl has to put her down so that she does not turn.
This scene will go down as one of the most emotional scenes in television history. What makes this episode so powerful is that survival is the only option, no matter what the cost. Carl’s flash back with Rick from last season on the farm, where Rick explains to Carl that people are going to die, and we have to prepare for when it happens puts the scene over the top. The performances throughout this episode were masterful, especially Rick after he finds out the horrific news about his wife. He weeps on the floor like a child throwing a fit.
Lori, however, was not the only character who was killed. T-Dogg did survive the prison as he was bitten first, and then brutally attacked by walkers while saving Carol’s life. It’s unknown if she survived after Rick and the group discover T-Dogg’s remains.
There’s more than death here though, as the plot continues to develop. The governor, along with Meryl, Michonne, and Andrea all play their part. Michonne wants to leave Woodbury and head to a boat so she and Andrea could head to an island. Andrea, on the other hand, keeps coming up with an excuse not to leave Woodbury. Meryl wants to leave and find his brother with the Governor’s permission. The Governor offered to help Meryl by going with him.
While the story continues to develop, it is clear that the group has experienced tragedy. There is plenty more to come. It is certain that Rick now has a different mind-set that could impact the rest of the group. The Governor will soon hunt them when he finds their location, and from the looks of it, he seems to have his own secrets.
