Walking Dead: Knockin’ on Mid-Season’s Door

“The Dead Come Knocking” involved several interrogations, a new member to the prison and a possible showdown between both the group from the prison and Woodbury.

But more importantly, the future conflict between Rick and The Governor was what truly added to the drama. This episode although exciting at times, did draw a few yawns with one plot line that was a waste of time.

Let’s just say the scientist needs to get back to the drawing board.

The episode began with Merle interrogating Glenn, throwing out all the physical threats he has to offer, even a walker. Not to mention that Glenn is tied up to a chair while he fights for his life and eventually breaks loose, kills the walker with a piece of a chair, and yells out loud in anger.

After that scene, the audience grows to like Glenn even more. Meanwhile back at the prison, Carl has a moment of his own as he has become a quiet savior for this group and very likeable as well. While Michonne passes out and is about to get eaten by walkers, Carl comes to the rescue and takes down the walkers.

What was great about that scene is the camera fading to black that portrays Michonne’s eyes from the point of view of the audience.

During the flashes we see is Carl shooting the walkers and saving her life.

While Rick tries to find out More about Michonne and why she tracked them down at the prison, She tells him about the Governor, Woodbury, and that Glenn and Maggie were captured and being held there. This causes Rick, Daryl and few more members of the group including Michonne to head to Woodbury and get back Glenn and Maggie.

A down-point to this episode involved the scientist and Andrea experimenting on a cancer patient. The experiment involved the scientist having the patient memorize several questions by raising his right hand and that when he dies, he would remember the functions when he turns. This plot line was useless because the experiment obviously did not work. It was a waste of time. The episode does pick up when Rick and the group find a cabin with a survivor inside.

While they are surrounded by walkers they kill the person inside and use him for bait.

Towards the episodes’ climax, the Governor asks Merle where his loyalty stands and that they will find the prison and capture Rick and the rest of the group and bring them to Woodbury. Although The Governor suspects that Rick might be on his way over to Woodbury, his hunch is correct, leaving the episode open to what will happen in the mid-season finale.

From the looks of it, Rick and the group will overrun Woodbury, and the showdown every one’s been waiting for will take place.

Overall this episode did have more intriguing moments than bad. But it was mainly build-up; the anticipation left little to be desired. Hopefully the mid-season finale can go out with a bang and keeps the audience hooked until the final eight episodes of season three this spring.
