WWE RAW Coverage: Sweet Little Lies

A CM Punk promo interrupted by The Miz?

Very interesting indeed.

Really?

Yes, really.

While Ryback and Punk’s angle is a joke, these two could be great together. It’s too bad that Miz was more concerned with getting Punk on his show to take a lie detector test.

Ironically, the segment wasn’t as bad as it could have been. While there were no answers, to see The Shield, the Tag Team Champs, The Miz, Ryback and CM Punk all duke it out builds up some big momentum with just a week to go before TLC.

Like the majority of the show, it was a pleasant surprise.

Matches:

WWE Tag Team Champions Daniel Bryan and Kane vs. Darren Young and Titus O’Neil: Kane and Bryan had their way with both members of the Prime Time Players early on, while The Shield watched from the crowd. After Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins disappeared, the Tag Champs continued to dominate. After Kane missed an elbow drop, Young turned the tide for a short time, but Hell No seemed more preoccupied with where The Shield was. By the end of the match, the young trio surrounded the ring, but Bryan won with a reversal of a Young rollup. After the bell, Ambrose and Reigns took out Kane, while Rollins and Bryan went at it. Soon enough, the three decimated both Tag Team Champions.

Tamina Snuka vs. AJ Lee: These two may have the best in-ring chemistry of any two divas right now. Although that’s not saying much, they had a decent match. Snuka had Lee in a crazy looking Canadian backbreaker, but the New Jersey- native fought back against the much larger Snuka. When Snuka went for her trademark splash, Lee scored the rollup win.

John Cena and Sheamus vs. World Heavyweight Champion Big Show and Dolph Ziggler: Show was all over Cena in the first few minutes. Scoop slams, slaps and strikes galore. You almost felt bad for the guy. Ziggler’s arrival in the match changed the pace, but Cena was still in trouble. Once Sheamus got in the ring, it was like a video game. Nailing jumping clotheslines and strikes, Sheamus was on fire, but then he got greedy. He missed a top rope Shoulder Block and was nailed with a Spear by Show. Ziggler got in on the assault, but Sheamus countered with an Irish Curse Backbreaker before he tagged in Cena. Soon enough Cena hit Ziggler with the Attitude Adjustment for the win. Sheamus caught Show in the White Noise.

Damien Sandow vs. Santino Marella: After a super long promo between the two, the match got underway. These two have good chemistry in the ring. Between the technical prowess of Sandow and Marella’s antics, this match was fun. Sandow won with his Noose Neckbreaker.

Sin Cara vs. Alberto Del Rio w/Ricardo Rodriguez: A routine encounter between these two that’s been seen several times before. Although there were some cool counters and these two broke a sweat, this was a pretty vanilla encounter. Del Rio won with his Arm Breaker.

Brad Maddox vs. Randy Orton: Maddox jobbed out to the nine-time champion, but The Shield took him out with their triple powerbomb combo.

Fatal Four Way: Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston vs. R-Truth vs. Wade Barrett vs. United States Champion Antonio Cesaro: Best match of the night. Filled with offense and spots. The speed of the match and counters alone make it an easy candidate for a spot on the best of RAW 2012 DVD. The flurry of finishers at the end concluded with Cesaro’s Neutralizer.
