“Look into my freaking eyes; I will not sleep one freaking wink until I kick every one of your MFin’ assesâ€-Bully Ray, to the Aces and Eights.
Tazz had some explaining to do after he turned his back on Bully Ray and TNA and joined the Aces and Eights last week.
Citing his urge to get direction from “a higher power,†Tazz was a bit rusty on the microphone. At the same time, “The Club†now has a mouthpiece. How it affects them in the long run is unknown, but for the time being, Tazz in the group is a good thing.
What wasn’t good for the show was Mike Tenay’s constant nagging of Tazz as to why he joined the gang. Annoying and repetitive, it weighed down an otherwise solid show.
Luckily, a pissed off Bully Ray brought the show back together with a good promo that continues the heat between the gang and the most important faces in TNA. With Sting’s promo and announcement that next week’s show could be the one to get Bully Ray reinstated in the company after he was suspended, the war with The Aces and Eights may just be beginning.
The announcement of the steel cage match next week between Mr. Anderson and Kurt Angle is proof of that.
Matches:
Knockouts Champion Tara w/ Jessie Godderz vs. Velvet Sky: Easily one of Sky’s better matches on Impact. A Japanese Arm Drag, a slew of Clotheslines and various other offense were highlights. Tara eventually gained the upper hand before the match evened out. After Sky hit a seated spinning neckbreaker, Godderz got involved, distracted the referee and cost Sky the match. Sky then went for a vertical suplex, but Tara reversed the move, Godderz then held down Sky’s legs to make sure Tara retained the title.
Zema Ion and Kenny King vs. X-Division Champion Rob Van Dam and Christian York: A decent back and forth tag team match with four high-flyers. King and Ion were on their games early as RVD sold. York got the hot tag after Ion missed a 450 splash. York and King traded offense and picked up the pace. Soon enough, all four competitors were in the ring, but RVD and Ion were in the lead. RVD then set up for the split-legged Moonsault, but King and Ion took RVD out. That left York alone and vulnerable. King hit the Blockbuster and Ion pinned York for the win.
Bobby Roode vs. TNA Tag Team Champion Hernandez with Chavo Guerrero: This was an interesting battle of power vs. technical ability. Roode cut down Hernandez with strikes, but Hernandez was resilient. Roode continued the onslaught and used submission holds on the big man until Hernandez worked off the crowd’s energy and battled back. After an Avalanche in the corner, Hernandez used the Canadian Backbreaker, but couldn’t get the pin. Aries then hit the ring to support Roode, but they too began to argue. Guerrero then took Aries, but Roode was able to Bulldog Hernandez behind the referee’s back for the win.
TNA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy vs. Christopher Daniels w/Frank Kazarian: One of the best matches on Impact so far this year. Daniels was in control early on, thanks to interference from Kazarian and some well-timed strikes. For a time, it looked like Hardy could not solve the quick thinking of Daniels. The Fallen Angel nearly won the match with a Death Valley Driver and had a great choke on him afterward. Hardy changed the tide after a Reverse Michinoku Driver from the top rope, but Daniel managed to get his foot on the rope. Soon after Daniels nailed hardy with the Angels Wings, but Hardy barely kicked out. At that point, the roles reversed. Now, it appeared Daniels couldn’t solve Hardy. Daniels went for the Angels Wings again, but Hardy countered and hit two Twists of Fate before he won with the Senton.
After the match, a masked man of Aces and Eights hit Hardy in the knee with a hammer.
